Ok I wont even bother opening the link and I will just blacklist substack with my pihole. I have never really liked the site but I will take your word for it and just cut the cord.
I posted this here because I wanted to talk about it and I wanted to see what peoples reactions were. What I find interesting is that rather than discuss the piece, people seem more concerned with bashing substack. For what it's worth I really doubt the Americans will invade.
It's not like Trump's desires are a secret or anything. He outright talks about Canada joining the US almost daily, and throws in some threats about Greenland too every so often too. It is just how Trump works - he assumes everything is his for the taking until someone more powerful than him says no. The prick can't even hold tariffs for a few days before powerful CEO's call him and tell him to knock it off.
But as pointed out in the link: It would be the last thing the Trump admin does. The US would quickly succumb to civil war as every member of NATO and Canada's military partners swarm to defend it and the rebelling US states. The US, as it stands today, would effectively be destroyed.
So far, waiting for Americans to do the right thing in the face of madness has not payed off for anyone. I think it's dangerous to expect them to start.

I don't think the world is that altruistic.
Americans tend to do what they're told, so I wouldn't expect anything other than thoughts and prayers from within the US. Sure, there would be a Million Maple March in Washington, but nothing would come of it.
I doubt our NATO partners would rush to put their soldiers in harms way. The US is a nuclear superpower that says it's their ally - that's both a carrot and stick getting them to sit out. I don't think they've even offered much condemnation of Trump's "51st state" comments.
Yes but it is the MAGAits who own the guns, in this civil war. Sure once NATO comes down on the US poop gets real but I am still concerned, we will see the next US civil war soon, hears hoping the buffalo party does not decide to welcome them here.
Everyone ownes guns instead US. Not just the right. The left has seen this coming for some time and have armed up. It will be a complete shit show if they start killing each other.
That being said, I believe Civil War is inevitable in the US. It's about to boil over.
There's plenty of left/Left/Dem Muricans who own guns, just most of them aren't the "have enough guns and ammo to equip half a battalion" type of gun owner.
However feasible or not any of this is, at this point we have to acknowledge that trump is dead serious about it. It seems unfathomable to a normal person, but he's not normal and there can be no doubt he wants to do it. He's a megalomaniac who wants absolute power, wants to be like Putin and invade other countries. And he has many eager enablers to come up with plans.
While I agree this is absolutely what Trump would like to do, it seems pretty unlikely it would get to this point, and the tone of the article makes just makes the whole thing sound like fanatical propaganda.
I'm sure someone a lot smarter than Donald Trump thinks what is outlined here could work, but in reality:
A- this would quickly bankrupt the entire United States
B- it would never actually work since Canada is HUGE and has a strong sizable army
And finally,
C- no one in the United States actually wants to take over Canada. It's a stupid idea that only the most unhinged and uneducated psychopaths would ever actually support
Lastly, I would probably be more willing to take this article seriously if it provided any real evidence of this supposed "imminent threat" and were posted somewhere a little more trustworthy than Substack
Look, they're dumb and this isn't impossible, but this would mean a complete crash of the US economy overnight. It's the least likely thing, and this one source is probably wrong or lying.
