Hobbies Wednesday - what have you done this week?
I've been working 10 hr shifts and going to school after work. So I haven't gotten much done outside of that yet, but it's been productive if nothing else
Preparing to make apple butter now the farm stand is open so I can get some local apples to can with!
Do you make it on the stove, in a crock pot, or outside in a big pot over a fire? Where I grew up, everyone did the latter, the old fashioned way. Would turn it into a big friends & family get together and take turns stirring.
The actual apple butter is made in a slow cooker because I don't have much space. The canning is done on the stove! I might be able to fit both on there but it would be cramped!
Autumn is on the cusp, so mostly chores.
Making music.
It has turned into a hobby now that I am older and have tinnitus. Where I did mostly acid techno and hard trance back in the day, I make more downbeat music now with guitar, electric bass and drum loops or programmed drums. Sometimes together with my best mate we have dinner and after make some house music or bring the Pioneers out and mix some records at reasonable volume levels.
Protect your ears...
Been accumulating books from little free libraries but not started reading any. Brought my sourdough starter back to normal. Tried letting cinnamon rolls rise overnight. Looked into Mastodon but it doesn’t appeal to me at all.
Planted a perennial flower bush. Built eaves on house. Built retaining wall.
More drawing biblically accurate angels! I'm a bit unsure about whether or not the hair is coming together, but I think it is!
"Workworkwork" -Orc. No time for hobbies today
I 3d printed a dart blaster and I am currently putting it together. It took a good number of hours to print. I am currently wiring the thing. It doesn't have a build guide per say, and I wanted it to be repairable without having to desolder/resolder, so it took me a while to find the right connectors that do fit the build.
I don't play any nerf games and my kids are too young to play with it, but it felt like I was a kid again. I chose Wario's color for it.
Otherwise, my D4 HC barbarian died again today and i'm done for the season.
Found a couple geocaches for the first time! Mostly sticking to micro caches until I build up a little collection of stuff to hide in the bigger ones. It's a new hobby so I don't know if I'll stick with it, but it's fun so far.
For few weeks now I am making few batches of cider. We had to already stop taking more apples because we don't have enough fermenters to process them all (and kegs, bottles...).
It's not done yet, I have enough and don't want to see apples for another year.
