‘Not a Scam 😂:’ Caitlyn Jenner Is Being Sued For Memecoin Securities Fraud
  • She's also a stellar example of inequality and the mechanics behind it, imo. Being a trans woman has not made her a champion of queer rights. Belonging to a marginalized group doesn't automatically make you a good person or even a non-oppressive person.

  • Kermit :)
  • Kermit's froghood baffles me, mainly due to the neck frill. I was down a Muppet history rabbit hole recently and realized that he was originally just named "Kermit", and didn't become "Kermit the Frog" for some years. So he was probably designed as a frill-necked lizard of some kind and got retconned into a frog. Mystery solved, right? Well no, because then I realized he got the frill the same time they started calling him a frog.

I was so distraught I turned to Muppet Wiki, which it turns out has an entire section on his collar. It's an article of clothing. 😐

  • Delection
  • Yup. I don't understand why people are talking like Harris isn't also pro-genocide. Obviously more Americans are going to die under Trump and that's a tragedy too, but why are people pretending the election was about Palestine?

  • Why do People Choose BlueSky Over Mastodon?
  • Personal answer: I draw art for a stupidly niche internet community. I'm a less popular artist so I go wear the community already is. I found one other artist on Mastodon and several on Bluesky.

  • Where does porn addiction awareness stop and conservatism begins?
  • I maintain that what people mistake for porn addiction is just depression or possibly ADHD. Constant masturbation is a series of easy dopamine hits. If you quit cold turkey without making any other changes, you'll probably just replace it with social media or gacha games.

  • how's your week going, Beehaw
  • Thanks <3 I think I'm done with birthdays to be honest. Whenever my family asks what I want I just ask for a party with a cake and they never mention it again. Then my friend tried to at least take me out to do something fun and I ruined it for both of us by inviting my sibling. I don't feel right asking anything else of her or anyone.

  • Rule
  • Then you have the opposite end of the spectrum, people who don't want you to talk about the legal risks because they think you're trying to discourage them.

Fight the power, but know what you're doing. That's how you minimize risk.

  • how's your week going, Beehaw
  • I know this is selfish and stupid but everyone is so wound up about the election that I didn't really get a birthday this year. Half my family didn't even text me.

A friend still wanted to do a birthday dinner so I texted my sibling asking if they were free, but they somehow missed that it was about my birthday plans and they were having a breakdown (not about the election) so we had to cancel birthday plans to keep them company. I shouldn't complain because I love my sibling, but whenever I told my family about mental health stuff, they always just yelled at me and made it worse. I don't understand why they suddenly believe in depression and think depressed people deserve support.

Also like I said, I know it's selfish and stupid, but I just wanted a day to pretend things were normal before I start scraping money together for my passport and getting my tubes tied.

  • not sure if this is true
  • Is this bot generated? It has all the right words for a "wise" quote but makes no sense. Is the wise man also rich? Why are we specifically contrasting "the wise man" with "the poor man"?

  • What is a recent(or maybe significant) thing that you learnt to do(or taught someone else to do) that was pretty good and think more people should know of or try out?
  • For people with physical jobs, try a little weight lifting. You don't have to be the best or lift super heavy weights for it to be useful.

It's one thing to have signs up at work reminding you to lift with your knees. It's another thing to really learn, through constant practice, how to move your body safely, and activate muscles you never thought about. You won't need signs to remind you, and you're less likely to lift something stupidly and fuck up your joints even if you're in a hurry, because correct technique will be burnt into your brain.

I know it's not exactly obscure knowledge but a lot of people don't bother unless they've got some kind of body goal. I've found it to be an educational experience even if I'm not a bodybuilder.

  • Are there support groups for depression that aren't toxic?

I tried /r/suicidewatch on that other site, but even though I made it clear that I was looking for advice and encouragement, the only two replies I got were in agreement that it doesn't get better. 😐 /r/depression is even worse by the look of it.

Does anyone know of any good websites, or is it the nature of all of them that they just turn into a crabs-in-the-bucket nightmare? I'm trying to get better but it also gets isolating pretending I'm not depressed all the time.

Are there resources for learning social skills?

I'm 30 and horrible at keeping friends. I don't know if it's the unschooling or the autism, but I'm told I come across as hostile when I think I'm being nice.

I know the basics. I make eye contact but not too much, I ask people about themselves and their interests to show I'm interested, I don't dominate conversations with myself and my own interests. I try to be a nice person people might want to keep around, too— I give money when someone's in a pinch, I remember birthdays, I help move, et cetera.

Eventually people either people tell me I'm being a dick in ways I never realized, or more likely, they just eventually stop messaging me back.

The one thing I'm sure I struggle with is body language. I've read a lot that you need to mirror the other person's body language, but I don't know how to do that. Especially since I normally meet people at work and we're usually pushing big carts around and moving products and I'm just not thinking about my body as something expressive, just practical.

I'm sure I have many more blind spots that I'm not even aware of.

So like... are there classes for this? Some kind of specialized therapy? I don't really want to try anymore unless I can stop being a dick

Kesaria Abramidze, a trans model, was murdered the day after the bill passed. Even if the president vetos it, this law already has a body count.

What books do you consider must reads?

So basically I was unschooled, and the amount of books I've read in my life is embarrassingly low. It was never emforced like in a school, and with my family's religious hangups, I never tried getting into new things because I never knew what would be deemed "offensive".

But I'm always interested when I hear people talk about both storycraft and also literary criticism, so I want to take an earnest stab at getting into books.

No real criteria, I don't know what I like so I can't tell you what I'm looking for, other than it needs to be in English or have an English translation. Just wanna know what y'all think would make good or important reading.

ETA holy shit thanks for all the suggestions! Definitely gonna make a list

ETA if I reply extremely late it's because it took me this long to get a library card in my new locale.

Who even watches channels like 8 Passengers and DaddyOFive?

It seems like I'm always hearing about family vloggers getting put away for child abuse. I'm not into family vlogging, so maybe I'm wrong, but people always make it sound like these two channels were popular.

But then they go on to describe their videos, and it's always parents doing insane shit to make the kids cry on purpose, or announcing on camera that they're withholding necessities from the kids or something. I've never heard anyone say they like these videos, and I can't imagine why they would, so then how were they supposedly popular?

Anyone know how to download from vidsrc.me?

Torrenting this show isn't an option. Every torrent I've tried has this specific episode missing, with a duplicate episode in its place. Most of the streaming sites do, too. The only stream I've found is on vidsrc.me, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to download it.

I've searched around and found multiple recommendations for video downloader sites, and several people suggested the Firefox extension DownThemAll!, but I've had no luck. It's a generic "can't find video" message every time.

I'm guessing these apps and sites worked at some point but they updated their API. Hoping against hope that someone who's done it recently can tell me how they did it.
