Steve Huffman, the Reddit CEO, told NBC News in an interview that a user protest on the site this week is led by a minority of moderators and doesn’t have wide support.
It’s almost like he wants to piss people off. Calling moderators running his site for free and upset ally what’s happening “landed gentry”?!
Interesting take from a multi-billion dollar company that relies on unpaid content creators and moderators.
That's the thing. His website isn't great because of him. It was great in spite of him.
I hope hope hope this pushes people who were on the fence off of that platform.

Huffman, also a Reddit co-founder, said he plans to pursue changes to Reddit’s moderator removal policy to allow ordinary users to vote moderators out more easily if their decisions aren’t popular.
We'll see how that goes. I can hear the foundry churning out the AI bots to outnumber the human users.
He said the new system would be more democratic and allow a wider set of people to hold moderators accountable.

I swear they can't conceive of people who are independently deciding to do things. It's always leaders and their followers for these fuckwads.
Yeah really. But, I'm sure he's surrounded by people -- investors, other CEOs who love the precedent of exploiting their volunteers, probably most if not all Reddit high-level staff -- encouraging him and telling him it's going well. Back in the 1990s Microsoft was known as being in a reality distortion field and I've seen similar things happen at other companies as well.
Narcissistic tendencies? He's mad that he is getting a bad rep, so he antagonizes even more those that are criticizing him instead of doing what any other sensible person would do (keep quiet and let the storm pass). I doubt he listens to anyone around him, PR team after the AMA would have told him to keep his mouth shut.
Someone needs to talk with him about what he is doing.
