Which video conferencing platforms give the host the ability to remotely turn on other people's cameras?
It's probably fake, but if this bothers you then you should probably already have a physical cover for your camera.
Electrical or painter's tape is a cheap and efficient solution.
Big flex though dropping 99 cents on these

I got one for free from one of my first real jobs. They also provided me a laptop with a physical camera switch so they probably just didn't think it through, they spent several excess cents on the cover.
We know there's users who want the cover but will never think it's possible there's one built in already.
I just keep mine pointed at the ceiling unless it’s in use
But what about that large spider's privacy? Come on, show some respect...
I also unplug it to be extra sure
One that allows you to see things that will never be unseen again.
Seems like asking for trouble... and law suits.
