Many of the people most dependent on income from redeeming bottles and cans struggle to get those items to the places where they can turn them in for money. A new project in Eugene will bring a mobile bottle drop to the people and places it's needed most.
> âTen dollars is what you need on average to live a day on the street, and so thatâs about two bags of cans. If youâre saying you can only bring one, you need two bags, (so) thatâs two trips on the bus. How do you protect that one bag of cans while youâre going and canning on another?â
On missing redemption facility hours: > âIf you donât make it and you have to keep them,â she said, âif youâre homeless that means you donât get to sleep that night. You have to stay awake and babysit your cans or someoneâs going to come along and steal them from you.â
