    A Wake Up Call

(Cross reference all of the points here and apply them to how Donald Trump, and the people and groups that have been around him, starting from 2015 to now.)

How did Adolf Hitler rise to power in Germany?

___ Adolf Hitler's rise to power in Germany was a complex process that involved a combination of factors, including:

Economic and social unrest: After World War I, Germany was in a state of economic and social turmoil. The Treaty of Versailles imposed harsh reparations on Germany, leading to hyperinflation and widespread poverty. This created a fertile ground for extremist ideologies to take root. ___

Political instability: The Weimar Republic, Germany's democratic government at the time, was weak and unstable. It was plagued by political infighting and lacked strong leadership. This allowed Hitler and the Nazi Party to exploit the situation and gain power. ___

Hitler's charisma and propaganda: Hitler was a skilled orator and propagandist. He used his speeches and writings to spread his message of hatred and nationalism. He also used propaganda to manipulate public opinion and demonize his opponents. ___

Violence and intimidation: The Nazi Party used violence and intimidation to suppress dissent and consolidate its power. The SA (Sturmabteilung), the Nazi paramilitary wing, was responsible for numerous acts of violence against political opponents and Jewish people. ___

The Reichstag fire: In 1933, the Reichstag, the German parliament building, was set on fire. The Nazis blamed the fire on communists and used it as an excuse to crack down on political opponents and consolidate their power. In 1933, Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany. Once in power, he quickly dismantled democratic institutions and established a totalitarian dictatorship. He also initiated a campaign of persecution against Jewish people, culminating in the Holocaust.

    ___

Hitler's rise to power was a result of a complex interplay of factors, including economic and social unrest, political instability, Hitler's charisma and propaganda, and the use of violence and intimidation. It is important to remember that Hitler's rise to power was not inevitable, but rather the result of a series of choices made by individuals and institutions.

What the heck is this thing I found at the top of a hill surrounded by trees and not at all from the Oregon coast? (Google Maps link)
  • I thought it might be a helipad as well, but the proximity of the trees around it rules that out. Even if there was a skilled enough pilot with the right weather and air current conditions... It would be quite a challenging land. Let along take off. Why would there be a helipad there in the first place, was a following question I had, and couldn't determine.

  • What are you going to do, no matter how small, to make the world a little better?
  • To verify, yes.

It's against Google Maps' ToS (Terms of Service) however to use its exact coordinates for anything outside of Google Maps. This is mostly to prevent others from using exact information (map or otherwise,) and then compete against them.

  • What are you going to do, no matter how small, to make the world a little better?
  • Sure thing.

On OpenStreetMap (OSM) there are four main things you can do.

    1. Mapping: Trace features like roads, buildings, waterways, and land use from satellite imagery

    2. Editing: Update existing map data to reflect changes, such as new roads or buildings.

    3. Validation: Check and correct errors in the map data to ensure accuracy and completeness.

    4. Tagging: Add detailed information to map features, such as names, types, and other attributes.

All of these can be achieved via OSM's web app.

Here is the Beginners' guide if you want more info.

I'd be willing to answer your questions if you had any. And I'm sure others that map edit for OSM would be willing to do the same.

  • What are you going to do, no matter how small, to make the world a little better?
  • That's really cool. How did you get started as a volunteer EMT?

  • What are you going to do, no matter how small, to make the world a little better?
  • I know that this might present a feeling of trolling or annoyance, but I take my hat off to Cart Narcs for taking it even further, to call out these people.

  • What are you going to do, no matter how small, to make the world a little better?
  • Oh heck yeah! Help fellow editor. =)

Come join us if you haven't. Even if you only have 10-15 minutes to do something, it all helps in the end. There are plenty of things to do and no pressure for you to do all of them or even most of them.

  • Can we just move on from the US 2024 election?

Yeah sure. Just find someone who can put me in a medical coma, and I'll 'forget' all about it.

  • Dude. Why you gotta bring up Harambe at a time like this? I'm already down.

  • How do Americans win their country back?
  • I wouldn’t be surprised if Vladimir Putin’s armies weren’t occupying large swaths of Eastern Europe by the end of this term.

And Russia will use, what? Tanks from the Cold War?! There have been many reports from professional defense intel groups and countries that report that Russia has been struggling to keep fighting the invasion of Ukraine. They've had to resort to asking North Korea to send thousands of troops to fight in Ukraine. With the weapons that the EU, Australia, Britain, and the US have been sending them, Russia is going to have a tremendously difficult time fighting back. Let alone, invading another country.

There's a theory going around that China might take action and 'take back' what they claim to have been their territory from the early 1800s. Either they capture Serbia as a whole, southern Serbia, or a large portion of Eastern Russia. Which might look like the northern point of Lake Baikal to Uda Gulf or the push further and take Taul Bay. The southern part of the Kamchatka peninsula would be advantageous to them. The US and others would have a harder time "controlling" China's fleet of ships if they had ports and bases up there as well.

I can only hold onto fool's faith for so long, that the world doesn't experience another major war.

  • Realistically... How fucked is the US?
  • I hope you're right.

USA Folks: Why is Trump called by his last name, and Harris by her first?
  • Sexism and it makes it seem like it's just one person vs a group of people. By that I mean, that your family is a group of people.

  • Americans: Never, EVER question again how Hitler came to power in 1933 Germany
