It used to be much worse. I remember being excluded from group chats in high school because of the color of the chat bubble for android was different or some shit lol

More likely it's doing what Amazon has made it do. So, probably audio recordings and any other sensor data and metrics they can gather

I agree this is likely the culprit. Having read the article though, he seems "sure it's not spying".

Now that I've read it, my question stands.

The guy reporting the issue is a pretty well respected tech YouTuber who helped invent Microsoft Task Manager, so I feel like he'd know to check for that, but it was never explicitly mentioned.

Hopefully he figures it out and does a follow up, I'm curious now.

is this an Echo issue or are these people unwitting members of a botnet?

oh I didn't realize you could just unscrew the middle part. I was aware of the lentil trick, but with a metal BB instead.

ETA: with the BB, superglue it to the inside of the valve stem cover so, if they don't check, after they fill the tire and replace the stem cap it will just depress the needle again and the tire will deflate.

I kind of felt this way about Goblin Slayer. I think that's the one, anyway.

That's fair. The more "engaging" something is, the more its effects may mirror that of something "addicting". I'm also thinking about how engagement is a factor of addictive marketing.

The end result though, for me at least, is the same. If I'm engaged in my book, or addicted to my phone, I'm still sitting motionless, staring at a thing, and reading. The difference I suppose is on how hard it is to look away.

same. There is one windows computer still in this house and it's unplugged. Everything else is Linux, Android, or FreeBSD based.

I'll have to look into it. 30GB isn't bad at all. I think I have unlimited now with text and phone for only like $10 more a month. I'd have to look, it's been a while since i've dealt with it.

I'm likely going to go to t-mobile as they're cheap from what I understand and they make up a big part of the network that google leases, along with (i think) US Cellular, or something similar.

That said, I've got about a year to decide, unless someone decides to hire me and then I can pay my phone off early.

I didn't think you were lol, I just meant within the context of legwear/purses, that selling an extra thing to one gender at the expense of a feature in another product seems like it would make more sense if you did it for 100% of the pocketed-clothing market, rather than focusing on 50% of the potential customers.

But then, such is marketing and human behavior.

As soon as this phone is paid off, I'll be changing from Google Fi as well. Which sucks because it's hella cheap.
