  • posigrade

According to the KSP forums, posigrade is relative to the velocity of the rocket, while prograde is relative to the rotation of the parent body. Since almost all rockets launch eastward, the two have (somewhat unfortunately) become synonymous.

Interestingly, I can't find a distinct antonym of posigrade. Prograde, retrograde, posigrade... negagrade?

    • Heatshield tile attachment: "Worth noting that the heat shield tiles almost entirely stayed attached, so the latest upgrades are looking good!" (Elon)

  • I think that just be how Asian crows do: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large-billed_crow

It has a large bill, which is the source of its scientific name macrorhynchos (Ancient Greek for "long-billed") and it is sometimes known by the common name thick-billed crow. It can also be mistaken for a common raven.

Also, we're apparently using þorn again?

  • Deconstructed: Alpha Flight 6 launched in April from Vandenberg Space Force Base, and failed when its first-stage booster broke apart milliseconds after stage separation. This created a shockwave that destroyed the engine nozzle extension on the second stage and reducing thrust, seconds before the second stage attained orbital velocity.

Wha’ Happen? The mishap investigation concluded that “plume induced flow separation” caused the failure. The phenomenon occurs when a rocket’s exhaust disrupts airflow around the vehicle in flight.

In this case, Firefly said the rocket was flying at a higher angle of attack than prior missions, which resulted in the flow separation and created intense heat that broke the first stage apart.

So... "pointy end up" too much?

Fix-it: The company said it would increase the heat shielding on the first stage of the rocket, and fly reduced angles of attack on future missions.

  • Also just FYI, the field of AI consists of more than just LLMs. I'm not sure the exact techniques CREAM uses, but it is AI in the sense that it is streamlining and automating calculations and decisions which were previously done manually (and tediously) by humans.
