Podman is awesome—and totally frustrating
  • Its not too bad, you can define the UID that your podmab process runs on since it can run as its own process and not be reliant on a daemon. It makes you do a little more admin work, but honestly you have to start doing that anyway in a lot of environments.

I have had good experimental experiences with podman, but my biggest barrier to adopting it is how old the packaged version with debian is. I'm hoping to see if I can do some damage with the release of bookworm.

  • Reddit CEO slams protesters, says he'll change site rules
  • Does this dude even use reddit? The proper response on reddit to users not agreeing with mods is to start their own sub to fill the void. That's what happened with r/animetitties. But guess what - no one is doing that because we all don't want to see these changes. Sorry to vent more about this loser, but c'mon man.

  • The harsh truth is...
  • Who cares? I actually think that even though this is ultimately a bad decision on Reddit's part, they are well within their right to make it.

I guess I'm not the intended audience of reddit anymore, but all I am is someone that wants to have a conversation with other people on the internet without getting interrupted by ads, while using a client that I like. I even was willing to pay money for this, and I did pay for the pro relay app, but since reddit is breaking compatibility with it, it is time to move on to the fediverse. I want to have more ownership of my content anyway, and I am an IT engineer anyway, so it is time to make that happen. Self host my own instance and participate on other instances.

  • Why do you keep buying these weird electronics? I have a coffee grinder that works exactly as you describe - press a button and it spins a grinder for a number of seconds set by a dial, up to 30.
