Economic inequality breeds resentment and a desire to get even. Thatโs what fuels support for even incompetent regimes, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

yeah, in that sense i don't trust them either. they may not be openly evil but it's a matter of time before this becomes more obvious. i feel this way about discord also (it annoys me sometimes but it's still usable, but i know this won't last long). let's hope people come up with a better alternative soon
i only found out about open source culture this year as i was looking into the fediverse (i don't know much about tech) and it has given me a lotta hope ๐ค
why is canva evil, exactly? i use it sometimes /honest question
also, financing brutal dictatorships in other countries in the last century while trying to stop the advances of "communism", including brazil, where i live. thousands of people ruthlessly tortured, kidnapped and killed where i live for "political reasons".
Hi! I was looking for shampoo brands from the EU. Mostly Big Name brands that since I live in Brazil and I want to be sure I can find these in the supermarket. (I could be buying from Brazilian brands also, but I feel like supporting the EU against the global Trump menace since they are more able to oppose him. Also most made-in-Brazil brands are not affordable for me). We are able to find most reasonably big brands here, we just can't find more niche ones. Any type of shampoo will do, I have very short hair and anything I use in it looks good lol
EDIT: I should have thought about this before, but I just found out L'Orรฉal is an affordable alternative I can find in here :)
I heard J.K. Rowling is actively looking to make people forget about the old cast bc they are supportive of trans rights.

Artists, merch sellers, and journalists making and posting Luigi media have become the targets of bogus DMCA claims.

Well, someone murdered the United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson and it is alleged that this guy named Luigi Mangione did it. The media went into a frenzy trying to make us hate Luigi, but since most Americans experience what is like to live under a system that treats healthcare as a way to make profits, nobody did. They even tried framing this as a left x right issue instead of a class issue but even many people on the right didn't think Luigi did anything wrong. Luigi is also a conventionally attractive dude, so it's hard for the media to play with people's preexisting prejudices. After many attempts, they seem to have decided the best approach to this was to suppress all speech on the matter. They are trying to frame this murder as an act of terrorrism and seem to be very scared of the public response to this. Reddit is trying to ban any mention to Luigi (even Nintendo related ones), and also has banned many people who did as little as upvote a comment related to him.
Kind of a lot ๐
You mean you weren't familiarised with the Luigi Mangione story?
I (username @quarklover123) had no idea there was a community named c/quarks lol

Paramount Global announced it is ending numerous diversity, equity and inclusion policies to comply with President Trump's executive order banning the practice.

If you do decide to cancel your Paramount+ subscription after hearing about this (as I did), just remember to write how you feel about this decision when they ask you that you comment your reason for doing this ๐
I don't trust billionaires. Period.
What do you guys recommend for French news? I'm not French but I am learning the language, and reading news might be a way to practice it.
