Just for the sake of clarity, there is a difference between jumping above 2C during a year and the long-term average being above 2C, which is what we’re usually talking about when it comes to global warming. This headline, and the 1.5C headlines from 2023, tend to muddy the waters. Shit is bad and getting worse, but it’s not quite as bad as you might think at first glance.
But then they’d have to drive all the way to Illinois or Minnesota to buy their weed
I sort of am, because I’ve been kind of forced into the role, being the only person in my immediate family and one of relatively few in my extended family to have left the Catholic Church. I have a hard time really vocally trying to break patterns, since I’m the “outsider”. But I do what I can to make sure that I don’t replicate those negative patterns
I’ve never done makeup before, even my own, but I’d like to start learning. The sheer amount of options is a bit overwhelming though. What are your favorite tutorials (YouTube videos or channels, etc) for makeup, especially the basics?
Carmel through Broad Ripple is really nice and totally safe. It starts to get less nice around the fairgrounds and 38th, but at this time of the year, in daylight and in a group, I think it would be perfectly safe
I think Indiana might give Ohio a good run for last place
Don’t forget that Gavin Newsom, the high profile Democratic governor of one of the most Democratic states, who definitely wants to be president in 2028, took the opportunity on his first podcast episode to invite on Charlie Kirk and say he was totally aligned with him on trans kids in sports. There is absolutely a set of Democrats who view defending trans rights as an annoyance that “loses them moderate voters.”
Oof, you got me with this one. I’m visiting family for Memorial Day weekend, and the relentless misgendering is wearing on me. Tbf, I can’t blame them, because I haven’t come out to any of them yet
I mean, I suppose so. I can imagine a theoretical AI that isn’t trained on stolen work, isn’t insanely energy intensive, isn’t controlled by the ownership class, and doesn’t hallucinate wildly. But that’s so far away from what AI is in our current context, drawing that distinction feels like losing the forest for the trees, at this point in time.
It was a conscious decision. After the Second World War, the US needed somewhere to shift all of the manufacturing that had been built for the war effort. So cities were deliberately designed to keep houses away from jobs away from shops, so you need a car to get around, inducing a market for the personal car that never should have existed. People forget that before the car, there were cities across America that were walkable and had streetcars. The current state of affairs was never preordained. It’s the result of decades of corporate influence over government decision making.
Quite a lot of people, especially here on the Fediverse. You’d be wise to care too - AI is no friend to the working class.
New study finds that ammonia aerosols from penguin guano likely play an important part in the formation of heat-shielding clouds around the frozen continent.

Shoe maker Wolverine Worldwide expects to move up to 100 workers to Michigan, where it also is working with the state on widespread PFAS cleanup.

The application kicks off a multi-year federal permitting process as the country’s largest public power provider works to bring its first advanced reactor online in late 2032.

If everything feels broken but strangely normal, the Soviet-era concept of hypernormalization can help

I would love to! It’s just a pretty conservative workplace, so I’m very worried about the backlash that I’m expecting
You totally should! I’m glad you have the courage to do it 😊
I’d love to, but I’m still closeted to almost everyone, except for my therapist, wife, and a few close friends. And I work with a bunch of conservative white men close to retirement. I have the absolute joy of hearing my boss listen to conservative talk radio almost every day. I’m legally protected from discrimination, but I think coming out and presenting femme at work would create a difficult environment that I’m not ready to deal with right now. I’ll probably change jobs, and let the new one know that I’m going to be transitioning, rather than try to make this one work, since I’m hoping to move away sometime in the next year anyway.

My guy clothes are feeling more and more like a costume. I wish my body were feminine enough, and my wardrobe of girl clothes large enough, that I could wear them all the time.
That’s awesome! Glad to hear it worked for you!
You should really think through the possibility that once you start estrogen you will not want to ever go off of it, even to regain fertility.
Yeah, that is a concern that I have… maybe it would be better to freeze sperm first, to be on the safe side.
I’ve browsed that document before, but I’ll read it through and check out that channel, thank you!
Everyone I’ve talked to has sung the praises of injections over any other method, so it’s definitely the one I’m leaning toward most
Thank you for such a detailed breakdown! I have my first GAC appointment with Planned Parenthood in a few weeks, so I’ll definitely talk with my doctor and see what they think. I’m more than a little nervous, but I’ve heard they’re really good at the one near me
Thank you! That’s really helpful
Basically, how long would you have to be on estrogen before you could start getting some of the mental and emotional effects, but before you would start having any irreversible physical effects?
I am pretty interested in starting HRT, but I don’t necessarily want to go through the whole hassle of freezing sperm first if I end up not liking how HRT makes me feel. Nor do I want to wait a long time before starting HRT just to find out that it me feel like garbage. So I’m thinking about potentially taking it for like two or three months as a “trial run”?
Would that be enough time to get some clarity on whether or not I like how it works on me? And then I could stop it for long enough to freeze some sperm and then go back on, or just stop entirely, depending on if I like it or not.
Thanks friends 🙏💜
The recommendations I’ve seen have varied wildly from 6 weeks to 6 months. The obvious answer is “once it’s healed enough”, but I am not sure how to judge that. I got my lobes pierced about a month ago, and I’m eager to upgrade from the simple silver studs! But I also don’t want to risk damaging the healing process and making the piercing angry.
Any advice is appreciated 😊
A report warns Michigan gas customers of rising energy bills as investments in natural gas infrastructure increase.

It seems like a simple and reliable product, but I know so many people who are put off of residential solar because so many of the contractors are sketchy. What is it about the industry that attracts so many of those folks?
How many vaults do you have, and what are they for?
The Corps approved a fast-track permitting process for the review of a new 3.6-mile proposed oil and gas section of the pipeline sought by Enbridge Energy under the Straits of Mackinac. The Interior Department is also moving to expedite energy reviews, over environmentalists’ strenuous objections.
