  • Wow, to think that decades ago I used to live not so far from this 'Hollywood Quarter' area and it was affordable. This is the first time I've heard of this zone. Looks like I wouldn't recognise many parts of Sydney if I went for a visit.

  • Personally I agree with you but not everyone thinks the same. There are also other matters to consider like whether you are a repeat offender, the age the offence was committed, etc. In the current authoritarian climate we need to warn kids not to stop protesting and pranking but to think how they're doing it so it doesn't become self-harming.

  • Do you think this Budget would make me question which party I should vote for? Nah, I will keep voting for the Greens as I have for the last few decades because they come closest in giving importance to the issues and philosophy that I do.

What the budget means for your generation – gen Z, millennial, gen X or boomer (yet another post on the Budget)

  • It sounds OK to Meh to me but

    1. I don't know enough about economics
    2. The way the Budget is presented and the way it pans out can be be quite different
    3. I'm pissed off there is no mention of the natural environment. Australian wildlife have a major housing problem too. What about them?

  • What concerns me is that kids are perhaps seeing the cyber world and physical world kind of melding into each other. If they are gaming the physical one without understanding the consequences for themselves it shows they could be more easily sucked into AI-control and being compliant while thinking they're being adventurous.

  • Sure, but best not to do illegal shit. However, if you are doing performative illegal shit because you feel angry with some aspects of an institution(s) you find questionable, perhaps find someone to give the reasons for your speedrunning or whatever you're performing otherwise you might end up with a criminal record and that's going to stuff up your life choices a bit.

  • I agree about reducing cattle grazing but I agree with the article that we should be expanding plantation timber sources rather than state forest because the loggers go in, no matter what they say they do to be responsible, they really muck up forest eco systems which have developed over hundreds of years.

  • Yes, I was pretty surprised too because Australia is usually always included in all their rankings. They say:

This graphic ranks countries by average monthly earnings adjusted for purchasing power parity (PPP), using data from the International Labor Organization. Rather than comparing salaries on paper, the ranking measures how much goods and services workers can actually afford after accounting for local prices.

The results show that high nominal wages do not always translate into stronger purchasing power. In some countries, expensive housing and consumer costs significantly reduce how far incomes go, while others combine relatively high wages with lower living costs.
