Why the americans are not in the street right now?
  • Same. I have Mexican neighbors who don't even know what's going on. We are 41 miles from the border; ICE is harassing anyone (even at a nearby HS) browner than vanilla ice cream; people have been disappeared already. Ignorance may be bliss, but that bliss can be made to come to a dramatic end.

  • Why the americans are not in the street right now?
  • The country that makes it illegal to be homeless. Sorry. How can THAT be, well, legal?! It's like making it illegal to have asthma. Noone CHOOSES homelessness, FFS, anymore than anyone chooses asthma. This country makes me sick.

  • Wording matters. We should want people to listen and join. This has been making the rounds without a great deal of backlash.
  • Hmmm. I think it is potentially very off-putting to use phrases like "you're angry at...", and "you've been taught...' It smacks of us telling them what they think and has that very quality of knowingness that these folks find such a turn off. I think we could turn to cult de programmers for advice on how to approach them

  • How do people with aphantasia play chess?
  • Yeah. I just talk the talk to most people, cause it's easier. I'm lucky, though, that one of the people I'm closest to also has the full works of aphantasia, anauralia, and the other one I can never remember. Also AuDHD.

  • How do people with aphantasia play chess?
  • She'll get through it. I had a similar experience, but it passed. I can't picture my daughter in my mind, but I can describe her and recognize her and, as it happens, she has aphantasia, too. Indeed, I only realized I did because of her. She said that, because she is autistic and has always known how different she is, she knew it wasn't just metaphorical when people spoke of "mind's eye" and "picturing" things. Remind her of how much aphantasia frees her from. I wouldn't trade.
