It would leave a power vacuum that would weaken the enemy by design. Trump's entire game is making himself irreplaceable to their efforts. Everyone else is mostly disposable and interchangeable, no matter their competency or effectiveness at their rolls
They don't need to, only to get enough apathetic or foolish people to do it for them. They also don't neutralize by killing, but by making sure they never hold power or influence
I think they're still over extended for how useful it actually is. They're convinced that if they just keep pouring money into it they'll make labor obsolete, which is laughable. The very market forces that are the basis of their entire system will ensure that workers will just work other jobs, likely with even more enhanced productivity that even further outstrips the wages they're paid. It will always just be a tool, not some transcendent infinite money glitch that they want everything to be. They'll never fly by their bootstraps or get the free lunch they desperately want.
