  • I'd hope the heat you're getting is because it's mostly

    1. Americans that can't comprehend that a steering wheel may be on the right (and as such your move is to inconvenience someone that has inconvenienced you).
    2. ICE drivers that don't understand that sometimes EV chargers are broken such that you need to park that tight to access the working charger (or trickle charging due to another vehicle using it, very much like the flow of petrol also slows).

We're 100% behind this action when a EV charger is "ICEd" as it is getting alot less frequent so the education is clearly working

  • I dont know why you're bothering: either the other poster understands the principle of EV charging taking 20 minutes rather than the 3 minutes it takes to fill an ICE, or they're an idiot. Either way you lose trying to explain it to them

  • Haha, bless you for being concerned but this was months ago. He got back out there killing things less than an hour later so must have only had a half lick.

    Thanks for caring, don't change

  • I fear I contributed to this as I woke up to a frog on my pillow and my idiot black cat staring off into nothingness for 30 minutes.

I've done enough drugs to know he's high af but needed to check!

  • I had assumed that data trawling being what it is, there's probably a clear record of all social media accounts without you providing anything. Hell, maybe even pre assessment by AI of your profile like the Chinese social rating based on what you've wrote, read and even lingered over without clicking on

  • True. Having slept on it I've decided im at peace with it, even in my terrible scenario there's a chance we'll do 50% on electric so 50% of what a proper EV pays is OK.

Newer phevs that can do 40-50 miles range and rarely do more clearly win but good luck to them.

I mentioned somewhere else where I'm still irate at is they're saying electric 2 motorbikes will pay the same 3p as an EV car. That's nonsensical, my 100kg moped has no meaningful damage to the road at all yet it's going to represent a 600% increase in my per mile cost

  • I hadn't thought about it like this, I don't think the Gov would either as they only want to try to get closer to an EV and an ICE being taxed the same per mile. So using your example moving from:

EV = 0.1 pence of tax per mile (5% VAT on the 2p per mile you reference) ICE = 6.2 pence of tax per mile

    to

    EV = 3.1 pence ICE = 6.2 pence

  • Soneone spare a thought for me, tried not to be car brained and got an electric motorbike.

Massively efficient if you can bear the exposure but that's now going to be charged at 3p/mile too. Problem is, it only costs 0.5p/mile to run so my tax is now 6x what the electric costs :(

  • Yes Plug in hybrids are paying only half but that's on all their mileage (there's no way the Gov would know which of those miles were in electric) .

So my 10yr old phev that does 10 miles EV in winter is then going to be charged for the 200 miles that I then drive on ice (having already paid fuel duty for those miles).

  • This hits hard as my son has just been diagnosed with ASD and when old enough is very likely to be diagnosed with ADHD. We're very happy to help support him thro this and feel it benefits him knowing.

However, my wife is convinced I portray symptoms and while I feel a little lost in life I really don't want to take the attention away from my son. I'm also 50 so feel like it may be better to just accept I'm from a time that didn't address it and bottle it up with the rest of my traumas

  • Used to but not so much recently as gardening took priority. Now it's getting chilly I'm going to start again and see how much I enjoy it.

I'm torn on listening to podcasts: I enjoy them but feel I disconnect myself from the nature if I listen to them instead of the evening.

I noticed that during the day messing with my phone but take a bag/litter picker so that I have no hands left for my phone!

  • This is wild and deserves a down vote. A 60 second look on Google would show everything you've said about women's rights is wrong. It's 14, in China it appears it's never been 12.and there are many laws covering women's right to consent.

p.s. I'm not a tankie BTW or whatever the phrase is, I have equal distain for all governments, including my own

  • We're kind of I'm a similar position, my wife is so keen to ask their wife what their pronouns are to respect and support them but I've maintained (thanks to advice on here) that we should use the they/them pronouns until invited otherwise.

She struggles with they/them more than I do for some reason (I think because she's a teacher and more literal with language).

  • See, does that go far enough?

If I'm letting someone out on my commute, a factor is how many people are in the vehicle. If it's a bus, they automatically get courtesy as who am I to delay 50 people to save myself 10 seconds.

ATC should be the same with private jets - they only get a slot once all the bigger planes have landed
