  • I feel like protests like this are also for the morale of the country. We fall into echo chambers online, and it is hard to see how many people are actually unhappy with current affairs. By taking to the streets, you can quantify that number and show Americans that they are not alone with how they feel. When enough people feel that way, enough to take time out of their day to simply march and take to the streets, mayb we can get some weight for people to actually listen. This is our opportunity to stand together, literally and figuratively.

  • 6* months away now. If you're on 10, do you plan to upgrade? Make the jump to Linux?
  • Very much so. Even for non-gaming, most stuff works out of the box from the package manager, everything else you can get working with a distrobox. Ended up getting blender to work better on Bazzite with AMD GPU rendering than I could on Windows lol

  • +1 for Bazzite. It has just enough guard rails to keep you from (easily) making your system unusable while still providing more freedom than windows. Install is cake. Literally clear a drive or partition for your OS and storage, download it, and you're off to the races. just make sure to always check your build against protondb For games to see if there are any special run commands to put into steam, and you will be golden.

  • Stolen imagery
  • For accuracy sake, yes the depiction in the Olympics was meant to be Feast of the Gods, but that painting came after The Last Supper and is thought to be directly inspired by da Vinci. Last Supper - 1495 Feast of the Gods - 1635-1640

Linking Wikipedia. The primaries appear to be in French 😅 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Festin_des_Dieux

  • TRIBES 3: Rivals coming on Steam [you can request access]
  • Played last night, highly recommend! Really great return to form here, reminiscent of tribes 2. Nothing quite like capping the flag carrier going mach 2 with a blue disk special 10 meters from their base. Except maybe a flag capture. Hoping the vehicles are implemented eventually, but I think this already has very solid bones.

  • I think your example is actually correct. Eating CAN be a noun, but in your example it is a present participle, a type of verb. It would be a noun if eating was the subject, ie: "eating is fun," where it would be a gerund. https://teacherblog.ef.com/grammar-recap-intro-to-gerunds-and-infinitives/

  • [Feature request] Add full instance name to post, not just c/...

Currently, posts show as c/example. This is clean, but makes it confusing if you are browsing all and there are other instances hosting the same community name. Can we have an option to show the full instance + community name in the post preview?

    Love the app, btw.

EDIT: This is a setting, and I am apparently illiterate. "Include instance tags in names" as part of general settings, for other dummies like me.

The biggest "narrative dissonance" in adventure games set in the modern day is the lack of retail stores.
  • This actually could be a cool concept. Multiple ways to get the next key item, but some are significantly faster. Like, you could have whatever key item you need shipped, but that would take a day. Or you could go to the retail store and buy whatever, but then you have to spend money, stand in line etc. Or you can just find it in the back alley. Then it's just a timed challenge to find the best (or most fun) route, but you always have a way to progress.

  • lemm.ee just got faster! (infra upgrades)
  • What a phenomenal response. Every single day makes me happy that I chose lemme.ee as my home instance. Truly appreciate all of the hard work you are pouring into this. And we can see how difficult it is based off of your total transparency. Thank you!

  • What TTRPG are you playing this week?
  • Very vanilla here. Playing a 7 year long campaign of D&D 5e that just reached a huge bossfight. It's the culmination of an arc we started 2 years ago. Recently jumped into a Pathfinder first edition and have been digging a little more crunch (and jank).

I have been considering dipping my toe into GMing soon, probably in 5e since that is what I am most familiar with. Planning to run one of the starting modules just to familiarize myself with the concept of DMing.

  • Lemmy and Mastodon feel like the real web3.
  • I think one thing that may help with this is letting users stay on their instance when browsing others. Right now, if I want to hop over to another instance, I can definitely link there or comment if using the appropriate channel, but actually going there makes it seem like I am signed out. Implementing features like this https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/1048 would help make the experience feel more cohesive, and encourage exploration of other instances without confusing users and accidentally encouraging sticking to one's own instance.
