  • It could be used to other warfighting capabilities by a small nation eg. cyber warfare, instead of tanks, artillery and other traditional systems.

Edit: Also one might hope that those kind of technical skills might also be of use in the civilian sector, in dual-use sense.

  • It's funny, I've very recently had pretty much the opposite experiences with the Teams/Zoom reliability.

I had and interview project, and and in about 50% (around 15 out of 29-31, something like that) of the cases Teams calls failed pretty much in the beginning due to some technical problem, almost always the problems coming from the other end, on 1 case something unexplainably went to shit on my end (suddenly no sound or video), and I think of my self being pretty tech savvy on the user side. We had to fall back to phone calls for those "It's just Teams, no problems, I understand" cases.

In the Zoom calls, 5/5 worked without issues.

Wonder why this is such recurring issue. I mean, havent Microsoft poured hundreds of millions of euro/dollars into the app/infrastructure? Where is the money going?

  • Samaa mietin itsekin, mutta sairaalloinen on hiukan liian vahva ilmaisu ilmiölle. No, kuitenkin: vĂ€hemmĂ€n mainosspĂ€mmiĂ€ elĂ€miimme, vaikka paskajulkaisujen (pidĂ€n brittien termistĂ€ "rag" tĂ€mĂ€ntyyppiselle lehdistölle) kritiikittömĂ€t jutut itsessÀÀn sellaisia usein ovatkin!

p.s. mikÀ on suomenkielinen ilmaisu em. englanninkieliselle ilmaisulle?

Tuon pitÀisi korjata Extran mainosartikkelit pois sivustolta.

Anyone know how to block annoying menu notifications in Nightly?
  • THANK YOU very much, that did it! One more little annoyance less in one's day.

  • Anyone know how to block annoying menu notifications in Nightly?
  • Yep I agree, world needs less apps, but also less PWA's. Regular browser interfaces can work well too.

  • Anyone know how to block annoying menu notifications in Nightly?
  • God damn it, I really hope thats not the case. Fuck em and fuck people who push useless PWA'S.

  • Anyone know how to block annoying menu notifications in Nightly?
  • Yep, thats why I'm calling for people with knoweledge to share.

On a sidenote, does anyone know a site or a document that would list and explain the settings in about:config? Sure, you can find some partial lists and articles from the web, but there must be more comprehensive materials on them too. I havent been able to find such documents.

  • Anyone know how to block annoying menu notifications in Nightly?

As the title says, I'm wondering if anyone knows how to block these annoying menu notifications/dots in android Firefox Nightly?

They happen in regular android Firefox too, but I was hoping there would be some setting in Nightly that could disable them.

    Edit: some typos

Firefox Devs Working on Tab Previews
  • I have no idea, but the issue has been periodically reported in FF forums at least since '22.

  • Firefox Devs Working on Tab Previews
  • Okay thanks, I hadnt thought about that. Gonna give it try.

  • Firefox Devs Working on Tab Previews
  • Its happening on both my laptop and big computer. FF updated to latest on both, only extensions Ublock Origin, Block HTML5 Autoplay and Zotero. Doesnt work in different networks.

Accessing the same sites with Brave or Vivaldi, no problems. It sucks ass and I'm certainly not the only one with this problem. Why the heck does this problem keep popping up with FF periodically, judging by both FF and CF support forums?

  • Firefox Devs Working on Tab Previews
  • Having Cloudflare work with Firefox would be much more useful. Having horrendous problems with CF+Firefox this past month, always get stuck in the infinite captcha loop.

Cloudflare has pretty much banned me using FF as of late and it sucks ass in a bad way.

  • Is anyone having issues with cloudflare websites?
  • Yes, Cloudflare has caused a lot of problems with its broken captcha the last few weeks/month. I use Brave as a backup and it lets that through no problem, which is sad.

Some light carving out of pine on a strike day. If the boss wont scratch my back, I guess I gotta do it my self. Finished with light touch of chestnut colour staining varnish.

Sorry for the blurry pictures, I couldnt get decently sharp photos even after 4-5 tries. Maybe I need to carve my self a phone stand for taking pictures next.

    Music Piracy Is Back, Baby
  • Thats the exact reason I just donated my old pc to my sisters kids as a "practice computer", encouraging them to go rummaging around.

What woke me up was all these 20-somethings in our uni having trouble using computers. Damn, how can you get through our secondary education in our country and not know how to use a normal Windows pc?

  • What songs do you like that are in a language which you don't speak?
  • Pretty much anything from Frontside, but especially their album 'Sprawa jest osobista". I have no idea what those poles are singing about, but you can just taste the thick sarcasm through kick ass guitar riffs.

  • Is Liftoff still in development?

Hey The Dev, this is just a one off, random non technical user's ( I know what <br> does and thats it) question thar are you still advancing (developing has such a Heavy Tone in it) your app? I mean, I LOVE it for the heavens, particularily on the user interface, but its kind of lagging behind of abilities of other Lemmy apps.

Also the big concern is general security as time flies by.

So as a very satisfied but also a little concerned user: whats upp? Is the app still in development, even slow burn?

Edit: I'm a wee bit drunk and not an english speaker, okay, I edited some typo's.

Alder walking stick with camel head

I carved a walking stick for my father-in-law last year, from alder. Around 100 cm tall, slightly crooked horizontally. Painted with stained walnut varnish. Rubber end cap.

Camel's are known to be hard headed and stubborn, but luckily the camel that got this as a gift has a sense of humour.

Right now I'm also carving another walking stick to an elderly relative. This time the head will be a whooper swan and it will have a winterized (spiky) head.

Good call recording app for Android?

Hi people, I was wondering if anyone of you knew a good call recording app for Android? I'm starting soon a new job and it involves a lot of interviewing, and I was thinking of recording these phone interviews for note taking. My company doesnt provide software for it, just a work phone. It's (presumably) running Android 12 or similar.

Some preliminary googling revealed that there maybe are some apps for it after the 22' Google's policy change, but I'm not sure what to trust. If you have any knoweledge on this issue I would greatly appreciate any nuggets of info!

I'm located in the EU/Nordics, if thats relevant.
