  • I miss having my library fully in mp3. I started using Deezer just for convenience, and I kept only the mp3 I have for rare songs and versions. Now every time Deezer kills a song in my playlists, I regret my decision, and I'm too lazy to rebuild my mp3 library. At least Deezer keeps the name of the song greyed out in the playlist, and if it finds another instance of the same song it's easy to replace it.

  • So what's changed Microsoft?
  • It still doesn't tell us what was changed in the system, just what are the terms to use it. If you're using your license agreement instead of release notes or changelog to communicate what's new, you're doing it wrong.

  • Spotify CEO Daniel Ek surprised at negative impact of laying off 1,500 Spotify employees
  • I use Deezer too. The only thing I miss is being able to bookmark my favorite radio stations. It's so weird that we don't have that yet!

  • The Man Who Killed Google Search
  • Honestly, I'm surprised it took this long for Google to kill its main product over profits. This is in every big company's textbook.

  • Christian Values Rule!
  • I'm betting it's both. There's a lot of kids in this picture.

  • What show are you re-watching?
  • Lost. It's one of those shows with new details I catch every time I rewatch it.

Scrubs. Just a comfort show for when I don't have much time or before going to bed.

  • Golden rule
  • Jesus seems like a cool dude.

  • Transcendentalism rule
  • Found the Goron!

  • Redditors Vent and Complain When People Mock Their "AI Art"
  • Sometimes I think we could get to a point where nothing new is created. Like, if everyone is just using prompts and profiting from other people's work without consent, and this is more lucrative than creating content yourself, what's the point in creating new things?

I don't know how to put this without sounding alarmist, but I fear we might be heading towards a halt in creativity. Trying to come up with something fresh will become less rewarding, so we'll be feeding from the same source material over and over again.

  • Do you sometimes lose your patience when dealing with a co worker or friend who is barely capable of using a computer or smart phone?
  • Sometimes it's just a dialog with a single "Ok" button, and they stare at me and ask "now what?". Like, you literally have only one option, what do you think?

  • What software you consider so bad it made you happy when you left your job?
  • I like JIRA, but you make a good point there. My company lets every team manage their project however they want. They go an extra mile to tailor and customize JIRA in whatever way each team "needs". But having over 100+ teams in my company has made projects a nightmare, I have to write very complex JQLs and filters just to get the results I need from all the projects I'm involved with. There's no pattern at all.

  • What software you consider so bad it made you happy when you left your job?
  • Seriously, I currently work with SharePoint for internal documentation and I audibly grunt every time I'm editing or managing anything using that thing.

  • Weekend with no plans
  • I'm so sorry, and thank you for your service!

  • Reddit started doing what they always wanted to do, sell user content to AI.
  • Slightly unrelated question, but is there an easy way to delete all my Reddit posts and comments? I used the Nuke add-on in the past, but it doesn't work anymore.

I wanna delete my Reddit account, but I'd prefer to erase my history before doing that.

  • Microsoft Edge is apparently usurping Chrome on people’s PCs
  • Same thing with MS Teams, except it didn't give me any messages. It just started opening all my links on Edge overnight. I was very confused when I double checked my OS settings and Edge wasn't my default browser. I had to manually set Teams to use the same as my OS default instead of Edge.

This whole thing reeks of higher execs pushing stuff no one wants or needs, while a poor dev has to implement shit like this and cry in bed at night.

  • How do you cope with the state of the world today?
  • Isn't this a mindset for complacent people, though?

Don't get me wrong, I think exactly like you. But sometimes, I feel that by thinking this way, I'm just taking a shortcut. It seems like an easy way out for issues that should be tackled by humanity (of which you and I are a part), and instead of contributing, we're just letting it happen.

Think about activists, for example. To do what they do, they can't just turn off the news and be oblivious to what's happening. They might not be directly solving the problems, but they are doing something within their reach, even if it means feeling overwhelmed, like OP seems to be feeling.

Does any of this make sense?

  • It's just a coffee
  • Excuse me, but it's "they/them".

  • it could happen to you rule
  • What does "Limited" and "Fedipact" mean on that list exactly?

  • Who knows the rules?

According to this guy I do and so does he.
