[Non-weekly thread] What are you reading? 31st of August
  • I am reading "Setite" which is a vampire the masquerade novel in a large series of novels. I bought the entire series as they came out and only read them once. They are a lot worse than I remember haha.

  • As Justice Dept. seeks protective order, Trump issues new attack on Mike Pence
  • He's going to whine and cry about his free speech. What a big baby.

  • Ramaswamy calls potential Trump Jan. 6 indictment 'a bad idea'
  • Who the fuck cares what this asshat thinks?

  • Nimona review – sparky medieval fantasy with a serious message
  • I haven't read the comic. My kids watched the movie twice in one day and I sat in on the second. It was really really good!

  • RFK Jr. is building a presidential campaign around conspiracy theories
  • He's literally just another republican candidate.

  • "Kids Can't Use Computers" is now ten years old, and it's only gotten worse
  • My wife and I were just talking about this the other day.
I'm not in IT but I work as an industrial maintenance electrician, and knowing how computers work solves more problems than people realize!

  • Today I'm making my culture's traditional dish.
  • Thanks my wife found it at an estate sale. We mostly make beans in it.

  • Facebook could be tracking your online Plan B or HIV test purchases
  • They could be? Or of fucking course they are.

  • “Fascists Go Home!”: Philadelphians Reject Far Right “Moms for Liberty” | Over 50 local and national organizations joined to counter the harmful messaging from the far right group’s conference.
  • Good! They always think if they just put "mom" or "liberty" in their title people can't question their beliefs. I've talked to right wingers who can't figure out others don't think like they do. There is very little perspective over there.

  • r/Android is now on the Fediverse!
  • Welcome! I was subbed over there and looking forward to participating more over here to get the community going!

  • Sriracha lovers feel the heat as hot sauce shortage continues

  • Ok thanks for the link. That site has some pretty good writing.

  • What is everyone getting this Steam sale?
  • Its so much fun! My bro got it for me for Xmas. I work as a maintenance electrician in a factory so it's kinda fun combining my work with a sci fi game. It's really chill and you can even pet a little lizard doggo.

  • Screw rule
  • Square is my favorite but never used in industrial maintenance much. The square combos are on new electrical devices for construction though. I use mostly Phillips/slotted. A few security torx. Lots of hex heads, and all the small electrical terminals are slotted.

  • Reddit protest plunges user engagement, site activity and ad portal visits
  • You could tell they got scared when subs got the idea to go NSFW.

  • Suggestions of coop games to play with kids 10 & 12?
  • Forbidden Island is pretty fun!

  • Reddit's response about the actions they took against the subreddits (note: r/mildly interesting DID NOT encourage nsfw content and their suspensions and removal have been revoked by a diff admin)
  • It's only because they were default subs. A while back one of the news subs (r/world news? ) got flooded with porn and basically switched to a random anime porn type of sub. That caused the population to migrate to r/anime_titties for all their news needs. Now when it happens to a special sub though it's a problem?
