I was looking at getting some roguelikes / lites (already have ToME, CoQ), unfortunately Cataclysm DDA is not on sale.
Krone Hotel at 90% off looks like a decent choice too. Then there’s Jupiter Hell, which I recently stumbled upon and looks great too.
I’d also like to get some of the FF games, though I’ve played VI, VII, IX and a bit of XII, it would be nice to revisit some
of the older ones I haven’t played almost since the PSX era.
It is unlikely that Cataclysm ever goes on sale, because the steam release basically is just a donation. You can get the game for free on the official website: https://cataclysmdda.org
There you can also donate other amounts than the Steam price.
I took journey for the third time (1st time I will play the pc version, hope it's the most gorgeous version) and the quantic dream complete collection. The leitmotiv for this summer is "chill and cinematographic games to play outside"
Probably Satisfactory. Made by the same folks doing Valheim, which I've really loved playing. Also thinking about getting High on Life. Supposed to be a good game but the full-price tag has made me hold off until now.
I’m grabbing Nier Automata finally. I have it on disc in ps4, but my ps5 is digital only. So it’s going to be great to play this absolute classic on sd
FF games are a solid choice. The Pixel Remasters have been very well received and anything that makes the early games more approachable is a solid win in my book. That said, I personally found the 3D version of FFIII (actual 3, not 6) to be phenomenal.
I finally picked up Subnautica and its sequel. Really liking the game so far, though I tried to play it twice on Hardcore and ended up forgetting that I need to breathe both times, lol.
Just now I got three low-priced titles: Verlet Swing | Levelhead: Platformer Maker | Solo
I'm not looking to buy anything specifically. I'll probably check my Steam wishlist at some point with low price and high discount filters and decide if I want anything else.
I don't need anything new though. My library backlog with unplayed great games is big enough.
I picked up the FEAR complete pack, Alan Wake, Hades, it takes two, CoH2, and the Valve collection. First sale where I've owned a steamdeck, excited to play
Good news if you are holding off playing CDDA because of the price: it's free on their official website. You can play now, and then buy later if you want to support development.
I picked up Sun Haven. I was thinking of playing it the other day, and the steam sale reminded me it existed. (I'm having fun with it, but the play experience is somewhat janky.)
Other items on my wishlist on much bigger discounts are just sitting there because I don't have the mental space for them.
Last night I picked up:
Hollow Knight, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Monster Sanctuary, Pillars of Eternity, Guardian’s of the Galaxy, Journey to the Savage Planet, and a Vampire Survivor DLC. Not bad for ~$60.
Probably gonna pick some more out for an even $100 lol Cult of Lamb is high on the list.
ZOMBIE ROLLERZ: Pinball hero is an essential steam deck rouge like pinball game. Only $3. I've been screaming to the rooftops about this game, it deserves so much more love. It runs amazing on deck and looks great when ballooned to full screen due to the artstyle.
I got a cheap projector on Amazon to pair with my steamdeck. I set up the projector in the yard, had a few friends over, and played some 4 player games I grabbed on steam sale. Neurovoider, helldivers, crawl, ninja turtles... Had a good time.
Recommend looking at Sales on GOG as well. All the games there are DRM free, meaning you actually own the games you buy there, also there are loads of great deals 🤘
So far picked up Pillars of Eternity Bundle, Stalker Bundle and Mass Effect Legacy. Probably won't get much else, if anything been debating on Sea of Thieves but I wouldn't have anyone to play that with so I'm being realistic if id enjoy it solo or not.
Not sure if I'll buy anything, my backlog is terrible already and I recently bought some games like Tales of Arise through Fanatical sales. Main game I was hoping would get a sale was Shadows of Doubt but it's still full price.
Does anyone have experience playing Cyberpunk on the deck? I saw it was deck verified, but not sure how I feel about it. Just saw it was on sale and was curious
Persona 5 Royal (through Humble because of my Choice discount making it just under 30 bucks)
Another World (double-dip on Steam because the GOG release doesn't have the original Amiga ROMs as bonus content)
Garbage Pail Kids: Mad Mike and the Quest for Stale Gum (a new NES homebrew game published by Digital Eclipse - always been a decent emulation publisher)
NOMAD (another classic emulated title)
Castle Crashers (one of my "indie titles to get" games on the old list)
Battleblock Theater (same reason as Castle Crashers!)
I figured out a while back that it's just not healthy for me (I stress 'me' because it's my experience) to collect games to play later just because they're on sale. I have a few hundred games just on Steam bought all the way back to sales in the 2000's. I've spent hours scrolling through them and realising they don't interest me and probably never will. Sales will usually come again so I'll just get a game when I actually want to play it.
I'm deciding between the Witcher 3, RE2 or Disco Elysium.
Got a few smaller ones from my wishlist: Sword & Sworcery, To The Moon, Antichamber, Her Story, Undertale, Sorcery! 1-4, Reigns, Call of the Sea and Overboard!
@Cmar@lemmy.world If you buy the oldest FFs, 1-3, keep in mind that the versions on Steam have massive changes to game mechanics to make the games easier and more like FF7. I don't think it does FF1 any favors because the difficulty was a lot of what the game had going for it on replays, but if you just want to say you beat FF1 the Steam version does the job.
I'm thinking of picking up SaGa Frontier myself. Does it seem worth $15 to people?
Kinda pretty sad that Dark Souls 3 is still so expensive... ever since Elden Ring blew up, its price has also skyrocketed. It finally got a sale today, but I remember many years ago it had a discount that was much lower.
Nevertheless, I got Alien Isolation, Dark Souls 3, and I'm hoping I can finally get some DAVE THE DIVER, but money is tight at the moment. This Steam Sale arrived at a pretty bad time for me :(
Jupiter Hell is actually a really weirdly good little DOOMRL clone, I can recommend it highly. It deserves more attention than it has gotten from rl fans.
I got wrestling empire. In my first match I rode a skateboard and knocked ppl over. I found a gun. Goldust died I think, he just laid there for like 10 min. 10/10. Also ita fun to play, kinda like the old n64 wwf games.
I was really hoping to pick up some of the Stellaris DLC's that I'm missing, but of the 5 I don't have, 4 aren't on sale at all, and the last 1 is only 20% off. Pretty bummed tbh.
I got the Dead by Daylight killer pack, but beyond that I'm stumped. I'm itching to spend money, but nothing is super calling to me. Maybe No Mans Sky, I love space but I usually don't enjoy grindy "make your own fun" type games
I grabbed octopath Traveler 2, avorion, Carrier Command 2, Spiderman Miles Morales, and thr biggest find was the Metro collection. Looking to play through all 3 games.
Never finished Last Light, got stuck on a section and didn't want to go all the way back to an earlier save to make sure I was in a better situation.
Just picked up Dave the Diver and Coromon and my brother got me state of decay 2 which runs flawlessly on the deck so far. Tempted to also get power wash simulator and dredge but I also have tons of games in my backlog to still play lol
I'm picking up almost every FF game that's on sale while I play through the series. Which the pixel remasters were on sale but it is what it is. About to start 4, very excited.
Check out Crawl. Roguelike that doubles as a fun party game over Steam Remote Play or Parsec.
3 players have spawn points in the rooms to spawn as dungeon monsters, and 1 player is the hero. If you kill the hero, you get to respawn as the hero and that player becomes a monster. You get to level up both your hero and monsters, your goal is to beat the final boss as the hero.
I tried to get Powerwash Simulator, twice. The payment failed both times, through 2 different payment methods (and not because I don't have the money). I'm taking that as a sign that I'm better off without it.
I got Last Command, a snake-like bullet hell game and Copy Kitty, which is like Mega Man mixed with Kirby and lots of explosions, so far.
Maybe I will snag Rabi Ribi and I am considering getting the DLC for Dark Souls 2, I am torn between just the DLC and the Scholar of the First Sin Edition. Heard they added more enemies, and that sounds awful. Lost my save files, so it wouldn't matter anyway.
I keep waiting for Caves of Qud to have a more substantial sale, but since I'm fairly deep into Cataclysm at the moment and it's free I think I'm gonna get some smaller and cheaper ones - Dawn of Mexica and Golden Krone Hotel (check them out, they at least seem very cool if you're into roguelikes), still trying to decide whether to include ADOM or ToME as wel. Also debating Osmos, Myst, Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 or whether to just bite it and get CoQ finally.
I ended up getting Faith, Cruelty Squad and finally the Dark Souls 3 season pass. I'm really looking forward to playing Cruelty Squad. It's going to be nuts just going off the trailer.
It wasn’t good for me to buy the steam deck 2 weeks ago, this sale has made me want to try so many games on it.
So far I have grabbed Cult of the Lamb, Vampire Survivors, Little Nightmares 1 and 2, Inscryption, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Aliens: Dark Descent, Dredge, Hades, Bendy and the Ink Machine…and I’m still looking. Fuck.
I ended up getting New World since it’s the lowest price I’ve seen. I’m also hoping that the game has improved since launch. Going to keep browsing this thread to see what other deals people share!
