Not in my backyard
  • I guess all the cows in the paddock right next to them were immune?

  • Not in my backyard
  • What noise? I was in a rural area taking this photo of one and even then, this close you had to listen carefully to hear anything: https://ibb.co/rmQRmyZ

  • Morons. I saw some on the weekend and drove as close as I could get to them to check it out. I was within getting messed up range if a blade came off and I could barely even hear it. This was rural with zero background noise as well. It’s almost like the complainers have never seen one in person.

Here is a pic of how close I was: https://ibb.co/rmQRmyZ

  • If a lemmy server is completely wiped, then installed from scratch again without the existing database, how does that work with existing remotely posted comments and federation?
  • Yeah, I have a feeling that this is the case with my server. It does seem to be communities that I was already subscribed to having issues subscribing again.

  • Dead instance checker may be overzealous.
  • Is there a process to undead an instance? I'm just saying that as I wiped my server a few weeks ago and created a new lemmy server from scratch with the same domain/details etc... I'm posting from it now so it kind of works I guess but will I be missing anything?

Just asking as I did exactly that and it kind of seems like it works? I would have thought there would have been some kind of checksum/key etc...

The only issue I'm really running into is that it says subscribe pending on some communities when I try to subscribe but I'm assuming that's due to being overloaded etc...

Is there anything major that I'm overlooking?

Note: The server is personal so hijacking existing usernames isn't an issue but I'm assuming it would be if it was populated?

  • Get some kava powder online, it’s way more potent. That’s if you want that kind of thing.

  • How potent is the pill? Just wondering as my 2 cups of water bowl has 3 tablespoons in it. Is it highly concentrated?

  • My partner is away for the night in Brisbane to see a gig with a friend. A bottle of red wine down and considering getting into the Kava that I purchased when in Fiji….

  • Pool is something that you just don’t forget skill wise. As long as I have had a few drinks and a bit tipsy it just all comes back and I play great. I had a work outing that had a pool table and my colleagues playing were asking me how often I played, I was like like I last played before Covid so 2 or so years? They didn’t believe me.

  • Yep, it’s disgusting. I’m happy to pay that amount every year since my working from home desk it directly below it. Also, totally claiming it on tax as a work expense.

  • Damn Europe and their time zones. I prefer meeting with my US east coast colleagues vs Europe as it’s 7am but i got up at 6am today and just fired up the laptop before a shower and finished at 2pm today!

  • PSA: People with split systems in their house/apartment, get it cleaned! I didn’t for 5 years or so and it was running badly and randomly had black dusty bits blow out. Yeah, those bits were mould! I paid a place $129 and they cleaned the whole thing out and now it’s working perfectly. This is what came out of it after a chemical spray and then a pressure water wash. That bottle is 2 foot high and they even emptied it and did another quarter of a bottle drainage:

I’m surprised I’m not dead or really sick from all that shit in there.

  • The year of Linux on the desktop is closer. Linux reaches 3% of desktops
  • I have on servers as I run my own lemmy server. I do like Linux desktop but macOS just works for my work and home laptop.
