  • Volume aside, I find Billboard charts equivalent to JD Power awards as they've always been rigged via payola schemes and the fact that nearly the entire nation's radio stations are owned by a single company iHeartRadio/Clear Channel. The music industry is picking winners and losers not the listening public.

This may be different with streaming but that platform makes it really easy to rig the system with bots.

  • If you want to be even more outraged, I believe this "brave defender of the sanctity of marriage" has been divorced 4 times now and is also a "born again" Christian meaning these are, to her, newly found beliefs that she's trying to force on everyone else while she doesn't even abide by them in her own personal life.

  • They even slipped into the bill that any senator who was investigated by the DOJ under Biden will get a $500k payout from our tax dollars. Schumer and McConnell are probably popping a bottle of champaign together right now.

  • This is the simple explanation. Corrupt individuals in positions of power using their power to engage in more corruption.

What's ridiculous are the claims that this is some 4D chess move that will reveal some indeterminate major benefit for us at some indeterminate point in the future. That these people are all good with good intentions simply because they belong to a specific private organization, and that if things appear to contradict this, it's only because we couldn't possibly understand their big brain moves. Anyone who's been paying attention can see right through this farce.

  • That wasn't my takeaway. Pick your cult, all of them prove that both men and women can be brainwashed. It doesn't even seem that hard.

Sure anybody can be brainwashed, but the article is framing it like these helpless women were only doing it because they were under the spell of this wicked man and bear little responsibility for their actions. Even the criminal sentencing reflects that with him getting 120 years while she got 2.

It just feels like one of those PR driven comeback stories where some POS individual spins their atrocities into something positive for themselves and everyone forgets that they're still a terrible human being.

  • Same. For most people in our space, a Dell Optiplex micro is more than enough horsepower (except few expansion ports). There's no reason to be running a legacy server consuming 2.5kW just to host some movies or store your camera footage.

  • "Surviving" the cult as the #2 in charge? That's like saying Himler "survived" (until he didn't) Nazi Germany despite being the one to orchestrate most of the atrocities.

She was completely brainwashed by Raniere, and became part of a harem of women who serviced his every need.

This type of language just infantalizes women and makes them seem helpless to control themselves around a man. It's also plausible that she got drunk on power from having so much control over other people.

Stop letting celebrities white wash their past in order to make a comeback.

  • $100 is actually a great deal. I had a bunch of shucked 8TB WD EasyStore in my media server previously, bought between 2018-2023, and I think the best deal I ever saw during that time was around that price. Around $12/TB was always my benchmark for a great deal on some drives.
