I view it kinda differently because that public post is still there (with the creators consent), and you can naturally run into it if you're a member or interacting with that group. However, this is a re-post and specifically a group targeting them as negative which can lead to brigading.

I definitely understand public is public, I think it's more of an ethics/moral choice where anyone wanting to harass the user would have to take extra steps since the information wasn't provided by this platform.

You're giving off some strong "I just awakened my ChatGPT" vibes here. Raw genuine unadulterated humanity is a figment of your imagination just like the "original" tomato, both have evolved from prior iterations of it's ancestors and will continue changing in the future. Why not just aim for primordial bliss?

invasive species = non-native. But, non-native doesn't always mean it's an invasive species.

Invasive Species: Any species that has been introduced to an environment where it is not native, and that has since become a nuisance through rapid spread and increase in numbers, often to the detriment of native species.

I don't think having a non-native title is necessarily bad, just that it didn't originate/evolve in that area.

Just wanted to put in a counter for what a lot of people are saying in here, if you're looking for a "perfect-clone friend" right out the gate then prepare to be lonely as your tests fail... not because they're horrible people, but because they're a different person with different experiences.

The person litters (like @tiramichu@sh.itjust.works suggested)? Probably see's their entire family litter constantly and never gets comments or maybe even once got reprimanded for saying not to litter to an elder. Just ask them not to when they're in your vehicle, take into account their reaction and maybe have a conversation about it? (personal experience, just let me friend know it was lame and he stopped doing it. But now his vehicle is a roaming trashcan so I guess take what you can get)

You can be friends with people who are different or were raised differently than you, it's actually super beneficial! Now if it's a constant argument or it's turned into a negative experience every time and communication isn't working... it might be useful to move on for everyone's sake at that point.

I do the clean up thing just because I don't like having a bunch of shit in front of me all spread out. I think it's years of having to clean up my stations and desks so I can actually function so it's just habitual. We should be taking into consideration that this might not be helpful at all to the worker if these other comments are to be believed.

I've been watching a lot of Shane Gillis content for a little under a year and I can officially say I'm even more confused on his political leanings and now know way too much about lady boys and their historical context thanks to him.

I've been kicking around the same idea of a "community land trust and housing coop" for the better part of a decade now. It's on my short list of things I want to accomplish with my life that might be beneficial for society. Mixed housing community (large plots, multifamily dwellings, apartments, townhouses), support for cooperative company creation within the community, local store that sells the goods produced by the community (and online), plus actual facilities a community needs to thrive (community education auto/tech/farming/maintenance, help with transportation, etc).

I strongly feel like Cooperative based communities is the only way to gently guide us into a better future. It can compete within the commercialized world while still maintaining growth and development because the profits are being directly funded into the community as a whole. I think one imperative action that needs taken within the coop is the establishment and expansion into other communities so you create a network of these villages that can help sustain each other in harder times. Could even get already established coop's like land-o-lakes or create other mass industry leaders so you're not stuck with small ma and pa stores that can't compete in this style of market we find ourselves in.

I had to re-read your comment and the parent because it made it sound like any worker co-op would immediately turn to greed if it could lol. The reality is even if they sold the company (I highly doubt you would get even 30% to vote yes), there's estimated 1200-1400 employees, looking at like maybe 200k per person. No ones giving up a great job with pay and benefits for such a shitty lump sum.

I think I understand your situation, a lot of the times I feel the same way. I think it's more realistic to focus on those close to us versus trying to solve the countries problems by ourselves. Everything I read or hear is just a study in what are good arguments to bring up and positions that make sense while reaching across the aisle. I consume conservative media and engage in online debates with conservatives for this very reason. It's all just a preamble to understand and try to reach someone on a topic.

There are definitely times and places where it's not welcomed (like in group settings), but if you continue educating yourself and understanding what fallacy they've indoctrinated within themselves, you can find those good times to engage. For example a recent immigration conversation I had with a relative, didn't go so well. Afterwords I reflected and found a good response asking them, "If masked armed people showed up to your neighbors house and started dragging people out, would you intervene or sit there watching?" It put them into the perspective of actually being there during a raid of someone they knew and benefited from, also allowed them to feel the fear and hopelessness when authoritarians come crashing into your reality. It's not much but it's a start and you just gotta go from there one step at a time.

I wouldn't take a few hyperbolic statements made on Lemmy as an opportunity to perpetuate common misunderstandings though. I assure you anyone wanting to focus on arming instead of housing any homeless are just accelerationists and not wanting an actual solution.

I think it's just not how people feel and this illusion is one of the ways the Nazi party was so effective. You have bot's, paid-pundits, and controlled social spaces just like the propagandist's and silencing of the dissenters before. Look at any poll, local action, or how people around you actually feel. I live in deep red country and everyone who was so pro-maga before kinda are just silent at this point on the actions of the administration but can still focus in on the "them" like they're told. Only takes a few questions to break it down though with reality.

The breaking up of communities is one of the most effective tactics they have, it should be a focus of progressive factions to double down on keeping open communication between neighbors.

I cook for someone who hates porkchops but loves steaks and we ran into a similar problem with outrageous prices. Found a happy medium in thick cut pork chops cooked like steaks. Think I ended up using Lawry's seasoned salt and some white/black pepper but cooking it in the same cast iron with some butter had it coming out with the same texture and flavor as the steaks.

Please read the full study and it's sources. It's so important and negates a large portion of misinformation you're going to hear. I'll highlight some points in case some people don't want to.

The US media is saturated with coverage of perceived threats to public safety by people experiencing homelessness (PEH) with purported “mental illness.” ... a content analysis of 6,400 tweets regarding PEH collected over three months showed widespread generalizations that PEH posed a high risk of violence and that homelessness was caused by untreated mental illness.3

About 30% of PEH have a mental health condition.73 The framing of these narratives have been identified as further entrenching the dehumanization of PEH, contributing to oversimplified understandings of PEH and mental illness, and motivating policy interventions that are not evidence-based.4 Physicians’ lack of specific training in working with PEH can create additional barriers to accessing care,5 especially since PEH may perceive negative attitudes in their physicians,6 exacerbating feelings of alienation.7 Stigma is pervasive,8 and that experience is often compounded by PEH’s past negative experiences with medical care and ongoing structural barriers to engagement

It's important to ask the tough question of "What would a company have to do to lose you as a consumer?" Another relevant topic I think that's important and ties into this is Hank Green's latest video on Electricity costs (Electricity is About to be Like Housing), the future and purchasing of energy stocks, and what the tech companies have to gain or lose in the sector.

It's an article about Linus and viewership decline, a lot of people on here (including myself) probably once watched and then moved on. Of course the view:like ratio would skyrocket if less common people are viewing and only his main core is keeping on (who are giving the likes). The "member" videos and the new age verification was finally the push I needed to use youtube less. I don't get why creators are pushing their shit like that and it's EVERYONE it seems. Some are 1.99, some are 6+. It's just insane youtube thinks it's a viable market when everyone left cable because of the cost and now it's 10x more the cost for like 10% of the shit to watch.

before, if I clicked on a new video it might show me a few videos after that which fit the same theme/category. Now if I watch one fucking video it completely floods my algorithm with the same shit back to back. I have different accounts on every device I watch something on (like in the kitchen when cooking, etc) and they're so fucking drastically different in the feed it's insane.
