I hate to ask but there way too many subscription services and I don’t have the means to watch the World Cup. Are there any places out there where I can stream it?

The 3DS has such an extensive library of games, and I used to play it so much as my favorite console back when it first came out.

This year with the eShop closing, I went on a bit of a spending spree and picked up a lot of games for it.

Currently I'm playing through Detective Pikachu and am almost near the end. This game is surprisingly better than I thought it would be, as I'll admit my curiosity to play it was first formed when I played Ace Attorney on 3DS, and then of course with the Ryan Reynolds movie a few years back.

After I put this one down, it's time for Tales of Abyss - a game I've owned for so long but never played.

Problem:

When attempting to play a 3DS physical cartridge game on the Nintendo 3DS, the error message appears: "Error Message: An Error Has Occurred. Hold Down the POWER Button."

Background:

Since Reddit has basically gone to the waste and since Lemmy (Fediverse) is indexable by search engines, I wanted to post this helpful guide to assist people with cartridge errors. I saw a lot of unresolved Reddit threads, so here is some resolution for you gamers out there that never got your answer. As the 3DS ages and due to the complexity of the technology compared to much older simpler systems, more errors have been popping up for both the game cartridges and the consoles themselves. These consoles have reached end of life and Nintendo is gradually winding down support for them, so it will become much more difficult to get support or get them repaired. Additionally if you send off a limited edition console for repair, you may not get that same one back. Use this guide to help with an error when you can't load a physical cartridge game on your console.

• Download the 'Software Repair Tool' from the 3DS eShop. Follow the prompts and attempt to repair the software.
• Try again with the physical game cartridge and see if issue persists. If yes, the cartridge is the problem.

Next Steps:

• If any hardware issue is determined after you troubleshoot it, contact Nintendo. You'll need to get your 3DS repaired or get your game cartridge repaired/replaced.
• There may be other solutions online you can research to determine if you can fix it yourself. Do your research. If you are not confident in what you are doing nor do you have the right tools or skills, do not attempt to repair it. You can break it and that would be disappointing.
• Up to you, but if your game no longer works, there are always "other ways" to play that game again. Consider hacking your 3DS so you can play the games that are no longer sold, in print, broken, or ridiculously inflated by the used market.

Hey everyone,

To set a quick expectation, I'm an absolute Linux noob. I'm comfortable with running commands in CLI and can do basic stuff, but the advanced things I'll learn over time.

I installed Pop_OS on a separate nvme drive in my PC. My PC that I built also has Windows, but that's on a completely different nvme drive. The drive for Linux is dedicated just to Linux only. I chose Pop because I'm a gamer and heard it's the most approachable.

I've noticed that my Pop OS is pretty laggy and slow. When it comes to opening up any windows, opening the Pop shop, etc, it performs bad and frequently I get the "Pop Shop not responding" error on open that prevents me from using it.

Are there any tips to diagnose this or some setting that's buried in CLI that I can run? I've checked all the GUI settings and everything appears to be set correctly. I have the latest most available GPU driver, latest version of Pop, I sudo apt update/upgrade everything on there, and still it lags and is slow.

Is there a possible power management restriction that I need to override?

I'm quite lost so I appreciate the suggestions. I have 0 issues with my windows installation - all games run fine, OS is buttery smooth. I want to switch to Linux but this problem just frustrates me and I can't figure it out by searching online.

EDIT: Forgot to mention a year ago I had tried out both Ubuntu, and then Pop. I didn't really see much issues with Ubuntu. I've reinstalled Pop on multiple drives (including some standard old SSDs) and the issue persists.
