All games have been accepted by the winners! Thanks everyone for your participation! I loved reading the different messages and hearing some of the positives, the things that made you feel hopeful, and a bit about some of the games you've played. While I wish I could give you all more copies of games, we will do another giveaway like this in the future.
Stay safe, and happy 2024 ahead!
EDIT January 5, 2024:
Minor edit for posterity. All games have been claimed apart from God of War. Each winner of God of War never responded so I'm working down the list through a randomizer to select the eligible winner for this game. I'll update this post one final time as soon as we have an eligible winner that claims this final giveaway.
EDIT January 4, 2024:
There was no response received for the selected winners for Elden Ring and God of War.
I am re-drawing for both these games and will update this post once these final two game codes are accepted by the new winners.
EDIT January 3, 2024:
All games have been claimed apart from two: Elden Ring and God of War. Considering it is the holiday and there may be some obligations, I'm extending the 24 hour window by another 24 hours. If the winners do not reply by Jan 4, 2024 ~ 9 AM ET, they will be forfeit and I will re-draw new winners.
EDIT January 2, 2024:
Giveaway Ended! All winners have been notified, but they have 24 hours to respond. If the winner does not respond, I will re-draw for the new winner the next day until all codes have been exhausted.
I will also be editing this post periodically to acknowledge who won and if they accepted.
I loved reading all these comments, and thanks for everyone responding here and also sharing an optional story! There's a lot of positivity and hope out there, which makes me also feel the same.
P.S. - I really wish I could afford more games to giveaway to you all, but we can certainly do something like this in the future and perhaps make some kind of collaborative giveaway.
Stay safe, and happy new year ahead!

I would love to get Hogwarts Legacy for my son - he just finished all of the books! He's getting a new laptop for Christmas, so we haven't focused on games, etc. yet but I'm sure he'd be thrilled to play!
Elden Ring would be so sick. I've never really played a Souls Game and I've heard and seen soooo much good stuff about this entry. I've recently played through AC6 that was put out by the same developers and the attention to detail as well as the great gameplay itself really made the game a blast to play through. Also, big mech.
Thanks! I love posts like these. What made me happy this year was meeting and getting to know a lot of new people this year, when my year was otherwise full of bad times... how I hope Elden Ring will be
I'd love to try Hogwarts Legacy. I just finished Stray (great game, one of the achievements is a little tricky though) and am now in need of a new "main" game.
Happy Holidays and thanks for the giveaway!
I recently played BG3 on a Steam Deck using third party wireless Joycons while walking on a treadmill. Lost close to 20lbs. If anyone else has recommendations of other top-down games that aren't camera-heavy that might be good treadmill games lmk! First and third person mess me up a bit. Was thinking of replaying Disco Elysium or finally trying to beat Hollow Knight.
How nice, friend! I'd love to be considered for Hogwarts Legacy.
Happy or hopeful stories? Hard. I think the best I have is this: I took an unexpectedly long (6 mile) hike through the woods in autumn, and the stillness and quiet, the world seemed at peace. Because the hike was sufficiently long, I was able to find some of that quiet peace, too.
Hogwarts Legacy please. Not my type of game, but I know my partner would love it.
Quick story. In my adult life I've always been into charity. A couple of years ago a friend created his own 501c non profit. He was getting stuff together but then got overwhelmed and depressed and just couldn't focus on it anymore. Fast forward to a couple of months ago. I hit him up to see how he was doing and he felt inspired but still overwhelmed. Didn't know where to pick things up.
I started giving pointers (from my background in project management) and he asked if I would help him get this charity off the ground. Of course I said yes. He voted me in officially and that has been my whole world since then. Yeah I still have my regular job, and yeah the charity thing is solely volunteer, but I'm playing to my strengths and I'm conducting this thing the best I can.
We finally did our first utility relief from donations just a few weeks ago and it felt good. Going to really kick it in high gear in 2024.
I've always kind of wanted to play Elden Ring. I don't think its ever been my style, though I've wanted to give it a go on my steam deck for awhile now. Personally, I think any of these other lovelie people would deserve it just as much.
One thing I've been rather happy about, is my life was completely upended by a not so great roommate. Though everything turned itself around when I found some better influences on my life. Now I can happily say I'm a sober man, who's also almost got his shit together.
god of war please (i never got round to playing the new series).
story: last week, an old dude crashed into my parked car and totaled it. when i saw the damage i was naturally pissed off but spotted his details on the windscreen. when i phoned him he was really apologetic and explained that he already took liability. that instantly calmed me down.
yes, he screwed up but the guy was decent enough to own up to it, when he couldve ran away. now insurance is getting me a brand new car with no strings attached. the whole incident made me hopeful, even though it was a gigantic pain in the ass, that there are still good, honest people out there in this mean world.
I've finally decided to give Cyberpunk 2077 a shot, deciding that it has had enough time in the oven, and... yup. I'm happy to have waited all these years to play something that's a finished product, runs well, looks beautiful and is engaging and fun to play. Honestly I spend half of my time in this game just walking around the city - it's the first city in a game that feels realistic, with all the street markets, food stalls, drunk people wandering the streets at 4 am...
BG3 was overall the best game I've played this year though.
I would like Persona 5 Royal, never really had a chance to get into this series but I've heard good things!
There are 3 cockatiels living with me(I rescued them, not in Australia) and I had a pen with a string attached to it and was writing when two of them flew over and started fighting over the knot in the string, not an active fight just one would start chewing on the knot and then the other would pull it away and back and forth it went for a good 20 minutes.
I really enjoyed watching them passive aggressively fighting over a toy, it was cute.
It would be so cool to win a Spiderman game or that Hogwarts game!
Something that made me happy this year? We got a new dog after our last dog got sick and died right before Christmas. The most curious part? The death day and birth day are the same somehow
This year I decided to start biking to work and it's been a complete joy. The commute is fairly long, but it's beautiful and gives me time to reflect and turn my worry-brain off. I'm more productive at work, I feel better about my lifestyle, and my body is really happy about it. I'm lucky to be in a career and geography that allows this, and I'm grateful for all the work that people in my community have done to improve cycling infrastructure.
I finally had that moment in life where I could sit back watching TV with my family and just breathe and be grateful for everyone and everything I had. Where most of the stress of day to day was lifted and I could just.... be.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game I played recently that blew me away. It’s a game that is hard to talk about without spoiling the absolute shit out of it. I don’t care for westerns and I always thought, “Ok, cowboy game. Cool. Whatever.”
It’s so much bigger than that. I could write a book about why I loved it so much, but it would spoil it. I’m begging anyone who sees this and hasn’t played it. Put it next on your list. You won’t regret it.
I'd love to be considered for Persons 5 Royal (or Returnal), please.
One thing that made me happy this year? I became a father. It's really difficult to say whether that makes me hopeful for the future. On the contrary, it makes me kind of afraid? Like ... I maybe have another 25-30 years left to live, but my child will be the in the peak of their life at that time. And I worry about what kind of world I'll be leaving them in. Everything feels more important now than it ever did...
But anyway, on a happy note, I bought 2 games at release this year and they were both quite good (Hogwarts Legacy and Elden Ring) :)
Merry Christmas and a happy new year! I wouldn't mind getting to try Marvel's Spider Man Remastered; I've a few friends that say it's good.
I've been a bit under the weather over the holidays, which has given me the opportunity to try some of the free games I've been accruing from Epic's giveaways. Art of Rally was pretty good. Nice art style, active development, and an interesting concept rooted in historical events.
A game that I recently played and loved was Bombrush Cyberfunk, I am a massive fan of Jet Set Radio Future and it just felt amazing to play a modern game based off of JSRF!
Merry Christmas! I've had God of War in my wishlist forever! I remember playin the OG in the PS2 and Chain of Olympus in PSP and I loved them. I would love to repeat the experience in this PC remake :)
Baldur's Gate 3 is probably my game of the year, but lately I've actually been playing Fortnite with some friends and having a blast in zero build mode. The new update is great, plus you can't go wrong with some LEGO survival mode.
Thanks for doing this, you're a kind soul! Have a wonderful holiday, as well as everyone in this thread. Good luck to you all!
A few months ago I ran into the demo for an indie game called Laika: Aged through Blood. It came out around a month ago and it's an extremely solid indie game, I'd suggest anyone who likes metroidvanias a shot if you don't mind them being unforgiving as hell.
The best things for me, don't laugh, my life isn't cool lmao, was finishing twice cyberpunk in a month, and then my first use of stable diffusion on my arch station (BTW), I almost did an coming out too :D but this one doesn't count, because its in progress.... ✊
Im applying for Persona5, I really want to give him a go, but if someone is in need prefer this someone, I can buy it after all. That's really lovely from you. 😘
Will not participate, but props to you for organising this, it is really nice 🎄
Some of the games in the giveaway are in my wishlist, I hope in the next year I will get some and play them. Best of luck to the participants and wish a great time playing, best of luck to the moderation team, too. Happy holidays
Having been a Xbox player before getting my PC, Spiderman Remastered had been on my list since it was announced. Thank you for the giveaway and good luck everyone!
UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection would be great! I've been playing a ton of Dave the Diver, which is a fun game, but I'm definitely need a change of pace.
This year I got back into Destiny 2. I got to level 535 in Season of Defiance, and made a ton of new friends through it and the Discord servers connected to it.
So what made me happy this year is that I finally moved out and have less interaction with my extremely toxic family. Also my GF came back from abroad and we're going to be working towards getting a place here so that we can start living together.
In any case, thanks for this OP and good luck everyone!
The biggest thing that made me happy this year was being home for the holidays. I have a job that often sends me to remote sites for work. I was sent away in the end of 2019 for work, right before all the pandemic stuff started. Soon after that lock downs began and many travel restrictions were put in place, including ones within my own company. Basically I have been stuck very far away from my family for a very long time. The off-shore work contract finally came to an end and even though I am now technically unemployed for the time being, this was the first Christmas holiday period I have been able to spend with my family since 2018. That meant the world to me and one of the things that has made me the happiest in many years, let alone just this year. As far as hopeful, I am hopeful that this will definitely not be the last holiday season I can spend with my family and currently have no plans to leave again like that anytime soon (not that I planned it like that in the first place though anyway lol).
Thank you for the opportunity! I've been pleasantly surprised at the quality of games I've played this year. Finally finished Horizon Zero Dawn after it "clicked" for me, and Forbidden West is so far an improvement in almost every way. Spider-Man 2 was nearly perfect (besides using a version of a character that I guess was designed to give you more stuff to do). I bought Hogwarts Legacy for my significant other and was surprised to find how relatively complex the combat was (especially compared to the old PS2 Harry Potter games). And I finally got into Shin Megami Tensei with 4 and have had a blast.
Horizon Zero Dawn would be great, never got around to playing those games.
This year has been quite the ride, I started a new job and I've really loved it. It can be a lot of work sometimes, but it's work that I enjoy, so the days sometimes just flash by which is great. As far as gaming goes, I played a lot on my Switch this year. I sunk nearly 200 hours into Tears of the Kingdom. I'm a huge Zelda fan, so I tried to milk it as long as I could before getting the credits to roll.
Elden Ring. I've never really played a souls game, and it looks really great.
Not a lot of joy this year, got laid off last year and now find myself in a job where I'm making less and commuting more, but there were a couple of bright spots. I've been running a D&D game set in Mythic Greece, and it's been the best TTRPG I've run or played in years - my players have been absolutely loving it. Plus, I recently spoke to a retirement advisor and found that I'm in very good shape to retire in 10 years, and that makes me very happy.
Interested in UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection~
The highlight of my year would be graduating from university. It was tough, but being able to graduate was a significant achievement for myself. Made me somewhat hopeful for my future.
This year for the first time I tried to cook a seitan roast with crackling. Also vegan potato dumplings as well as bread dumplings and gravy. It turned out quite okay. I would just like to experiment with better spices to make the taste of the seitan roast more intense.
One thing that made me happy: been doing that Advent of Code and got a few answers right without relying on tuts or hints or anything. I only started studying Python again in my free time a few months ago.
Spiderman: Miles Morales has been on my wish list for a long time. Been excited to play it ever since beating the first one!
It’s good to see giveaways like this coming to Lemmy. Always commented on the ones on Reddit but have yet to get lucky. Nice to see them around though!
Hey, cool giveaway! Unfortunately I can't run any of these games yet, stuck with a potato laptop, but I'll enter for Tales of Arise just so I can finally know what that series is about. Some discord peeps I know love them so yeah. Here's to me getting a pc that can run these games in a few years.
I would love Elden Ring, but so would many of the others..
Optional. What fills me with hope is knowing there are still people like the OP who are willing to giveaway to those of us who missed so many good games.
Elden Ring is definitely my choice. I've played some but it wasn't my own copy so I haven't really been able to play it anymore, and for some reason I just never pulled the trigger myself.
I hear so many great things about this game and have been wanting to play it. My friend played it and let me play it a little, but I feel like this is a game that must be experienced from the very beginning to properly enjoy. The music is great, the art style is fantastic - it seems like an awesome game.
Regardless if I win or not, thank you for giving these away to people. I hope you and everyone in this thread have happy holidays, and if you're not celebrating any holidays, I hope your days are still blessed with cheers and wonder.
Spiderman remastered would be very nice, actually.
This year I had an unexpected GOTY (released last year but whatever) in Tinykin. It's a fun 3D platforming collectathon type game that I 100%'d because I liked it that much. The sound effects are perfect, the gameplay is rewarding and it all comes together so well.
Hello there, and happy holiday too! Thank you OP for hosting such nice event for everyone.
Persona 5 Royal maybe?
I am long time SMT fan from PS2 era (Nocturne, P3 and P4), Persona 5 is the only game that I have not yet played from the spin off Persona series.
To be honest while it's bit up and down this year, I managed to graduate from College and succesfully fund myself a small workshop, and at the moment I am in process of applying job for my dream career.
(optional story)
Few days ago I bought Saints Row 2022 and I LOVE IT! The world is so interesting and beautiful, characters are nice, few bugs here and there, but the newest update makes a huge difference from the release version. I don't get the hate so many folks throw at this game. It's just not for them I guess.
My favorite game recently was Mario Wonder. It just made me happy to play. It brought back joy from being a kid. I finally beat Elden Ring this year and even though it was an amazing game, there was a ton of frustration too. I don’t have many hours to play in a week because of work. When I played Mario Wonder, I knew I would enjoy it every time I sat down.
Happy holidays everyone! I'd like Persona 5 if I win.
Played some Voices of the Void recently, the game is really good at making you paranoid lol. I somehow managed to go out of bounds by jumping around in the base. At first I thought that the aliems got me, turns out I was >!just sent to the backrooms!<. Anyway, I reloaded the save the game made before that and proceeded to microwave >!the radioactive capsule!< I found in the middle of nowhere
Thank you for setting this up @CatZoomies. I already have one or two of these games and the other ones are not really the kind that I play. However, would you be open to allowing other people to donate more games to your giveaway? I think we should have more than 10 games for the community.
I've been eyeing Spider-Man Remastered for awhile, but never pulled the trigger due to price and the amount of time I have. I'd love to explore that world though!
Hi,
I loved the new spider-man movies and also always loved the character. I would love to play Spiderman remastered these holidays!!
Thank you for the giveaway OP!! Happy Holidays to everyone too!
It was on game pass awhile ago, but I got to try it out for little while. It was much needed break from daily stresses of work and everything going on. It reminds me of when I was young, and would play tetris with my late father on the NES.
I miss him, so this was a nice looking back moment. The game has moved off the service now, but I am saving up to get it for myself, hopefully by his birthday next year.
Happy holidays to you all, and spend time or talk to those people who you hold dear.
I would love to try Persona 5 royal, one of my friends loves the series so would be fun to try.
If people wanna try a good and fun game then I would highly recommend the psychonauts series. The humour and gameplay are top notch, and number one is pretty cheap. Number 2 was without a doubt my favourite game of the year
Whoa this is cool, thanks for doing this. I'm interested in Hogwarts Legacy. I've played Elden Ring, God of War, and HZD. I really struggled with HZD, though. Couldn't get into it for some reason.
I had been having a hard time getting motivated to play anything new over the last few months then saw a post about Dave the diver here on lemmy. Decided to try it out and it was just such a nice experience. Now I'm feeling a lot more motivated to try new games, mostly smaller indie-ish stuff.
God of War. FYI, don't send keys over Lemmy private message. Anybody who runs an instance that federates with yours may be able to see your private messages. Just be careful is all!
I'm putting in for Spiderman Remastered! It's the next game on my list when I finish Stardew Valley. Thanks for doing this, excellent community building!
I would love the uncharted collection, loved watching my dad play the games as a kid and its always been my favorite, used to even wear a copy nathans ring, havent gotten to play it in years since I sold my ps4 and havent had the money to buy a fullpriced playstation game!
That is quite a list of games, thank you! This year I met someone in the most random way and we really like having each other in our lives. It's awesome to have a new friend who might turn into much more!
My best friend has some issues that occasionally make interacting with them difficult. This year I got a lot better at handling those moments in a more graceful way, which has led to less stress for (hopefully) both of us.
I got a lot better at handling my time in a productive way this year.
I made a lot of big steps toward significantly changing my work situation in a way that I'm hopeful will turn out for the better.
And some games I enjoyed playing this year include Hogwarts Legacy, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Pico Park with my niece, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, Crash Bandicoot 2 (From the trilogy game), Super Mario Wonder, Stray, and Manifold. I 100%'d all of those except Zelda and Manifold (Which I'm still playing).
Hard call for me between Horizon Zero Dawn and either Spider-Man game since I've had both on my radar for a while, but I'll go in for Spider-Man Remastered 🕷🕸 Happy Holidays ♡
Considering BG3 is not on this list, you should absolutely consider giving it a playthrough. I've never played a crpg I liked, and my wife had never played one at all, and now we're on our 4th playthrough. It is a legitimate masterpiece and the hype is well-deserved
I already own/played most of these. A very kind action on your part!
I will go for the uncharted games as I fear the Elden* ring is beyond my gaming capabilities :').
I've recently been playing Jedi survivor. While I feel my pc isn't entirely up to the task anymore, streaming it downstairs through the steam deck really makes it more enjoyable to play!
Best of luck to everyone! May the odds ever be in your favor! Have a great Christmas/new years/2024.
Shout-out to the person doing the giveaway! It's a very generous year end gift to do for strangers.
As a fan of titles like Hades and Control, Returnal's unique mix of gameplay elements is right up my alley. My budget has been maxxed lately so I've just been replaying the stuff in my steam library.
This year, my 6 yr old nephew got super big into Pokémon. Everytime he comes over, he shows me his Pokémon cards that he's collecting and all the new Pokémon he's caught in Let's Go Eevee. Eevee is his all time favorite Pokémon so when he leaned that was your starter in the game, he was jumping up and down with joy! Gotta love seeing the same excitement I had with Pokémon red back in the day.
Ooooh Returnal! I’ve been wanting to play it with a mate for quite some time but that price tag has been quite the hump to get over…
Best of luck everyone in the giveaway! Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to everyone! Hope you all have a better year than this one~
Elden Ring. I've been meaning to try it out. My friends have been hounding me to play it, but I've not had a chance to play any Souls Like games so I've been hesitant to purchase. Whether I'm a winner or not, thank you for the generous giveaway! Happy Holidays!
I'd love to get Miles Morales! I started playing the first one this year and my son (who adores Spider-Man) would regularly sit and cuddle with me on my lap while I played it. Easily my favorite experience from the year.
Thank you for the opportunity and for being so generous. I've been interested in God of War for quite some time. Funny enough I played Persona 5 Royale all the way through this year, and it was the first time in quite a while I got the opportunity to give the time necessary to complete a game.
A friend recently recommended the Persona series, so I think I'm gonna have to go with Persona 5 Royal.
Something that made me happy this year (and gaming related) is that we finally got a remote Dungeons and Dragons group going with that friend, our significant others, and our mutual friend group. After a little hemming and hawing over how to set it up, we went with Foundry Virtual Tabletop (which we find suits our needs). It's good to be DMing for these friends and new faces again!
For a game recommendation/story, our tabletop group had been bandying around throwing in some one shots to try out some different systems and Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader came up.
I'm pretty excited to test it out and recently found that Owlcat released a Rogue Trader crpg. I've been pretty busy near the end of the calendar year, so jumping into some science fantasy lore to share with my girlfriend has been great. I'll have to talk with the guy GMing that one shot about the similarities between the crpg and the tabletop system, but we're already brainstorming characters for the one shot and beyond (if we like it).
Hope this reply finds you all cozy and enjoying the season. This giveaway is a really cool idea and good luck everyone!
Elden Ring. For the story, I remember those days that you stay up with your friends doing a full run! Not much time to do that these days, but the nostalgia always kicks in this time of year. :
Would be pretty happy with Persona 5 Royal. I played it on ps4 back before I had a good PC but I never got far because playing on console is very inconvenient for me!
As for something that made me very happy recently, they finally announced the next monster hunter game, my favourite game series of all time! AND it's finally a pc release on launch! I'm definitely upgrading my computer when that one comes around! Also I passed all my college courses that I was really worried about failing, but you know, priorities.
Would definitely be interested in Returnal, my friend worked on the PC port for it so he's been trying to get me to buy it since it released, was just hoping for a good enough sale.
My happy story was starting to contribute to an open source Minecraft mod and getting invited to join the offical development team after a few months, definitely makes me feel like I'm actually good at programming :D
I'll put my request in for Persona 5 Royal. Buddy of mine is obsessed with it and has been trying to get me to play. Thanks for giving people the opportunity to win one of these games!
So, a friend of mine and I were playing Hunt: Showdown in duos. We find the target, but someone else already had. Multiple someone elses. For those who play, the target was at Sweetbell, and we approached from Arden Parish. I'm rocking a lebel marksman variant, so I take a look into one of the windows. Someone's there, so I pop him. Headshot. We move, rotating south and getting contacted but coming out victorious. I take a look in again at the bounties, but neither is giving me a window shot. I happen to see one move though, and headshot him through the wall. "I'm getting reported for that one" I comment. We continue to rotate clockwise around the building, and I ascend the tower between Sweetbell and Fort Carmic. I quickly get draw a bread and drop a player. This time his partner returns for and gets me. My own partner remains hidden for long enough that they look elsewhere to more immediate threats, and he picks me up. Eventually, as we're rotating north, they make a break for it, and get an area away by the time we finish looting their kills. I suggest going after them, and my partner expressed doubt. I mention that we have scopes, and hop onto some stairs to see if I can spot them. I do, and take my shot, downing one. The other scurried into the brush. I hold the view, waiting for the partner to make his move, and after a short pause my partner checks his map and says the other target made a break for it. We collect one of the bounties and leave via the same path. When we check the teams that round, we realize that I only killed one of the pair in that building... ever. The morale damage that must've done in order that the other just abandoned his buddy. My friend and I now use that player's username as a verb for when we down a player more than three times, and in particularly... efficient manner.
For the game, I'm interested in Returnal.
I've sunk almost 500 hours in to baldurs gate 3 since it's release. Despite that, my favorite game I've played this year is probably going to be Tony Hawks Underground. I recently got hit with the nostalgia wave and have been playing THUG 1 and 2 which were major foundations of my childhood; the soundtracks are unbeatable ("Deadly Sinners" on the same playlist as "Burning Ring of Fire"? Who makes games like this anymore?) and the story and characters are the perfect level of bad.
Thanks for being so generous with this! I've been meaning to try out Returnal for a while now so that would be awesome to get. Something that made me very happy this year was my dog. We got him just over a year ago as a puppy and I'll be honest it was pretty tough at the beginning, puppies are a lot of work and he's a stubborn little boy, but this year he's just got progressively better and better and it makes all the work we put in at the beginning so worth it.
I'm happy that after a really lame start to the year (getting canned from my long time job and bouncing from job to job for a couple months) I finally got settled making way more money that lets me be home every night & weekend with my wife, and practice music with some good friends
I'm gonna throw my hat in the ring for Elden Ring! My favorite game I've played this year is gonna have to be God of War. Getting a chance to revisit a matured and wise version of Kratos, after having experienced how he used to be when I played the original games on PS2 was great.
A game I've been playing recently is Bread & Fred. It has put the pure fun factor back in games for me. No competitiveness, no completionist motivation, just pure fun.
Fun thing for me this holiday was solving a puzzle for another Lemmy user. Figured out the movie they couldn't recall for years was New Friends, 1981, and they are able to share that and the online video of it I found with their sisters for the holidays. Bonus points, there's was a monetary reward that's now going to charity. Was very entertaining.
I’ve been making posts like crazy to fill the fediverse Critical Role group with content and have had an unexpected amount of fun with screenshots and labeling pop culture references over the holidays so far. The big group that has been doing it, CritRoleStats, is shuttering updates, and it’s kinda inspired me to do this. People whose grasp of American English and slang is limited, or those with disabilities are the main groups I have found to be helping and that’s pretty cool.
Thanks for doing this, btw. My top 5, in order: Tales of Arise, Persona 5, Elden Ring, Hogwarts, God of War.
Very cool of you to do this! I would love to check out Uncharted, I've never played it.
My happy/hopeful story is that the company I work for is looking pretty good for next year and this year was already pretty good. So I'm looking forward to the new year!
I've always wanted to try out Elden Ring but have been holding off on it to work through my backlog. Just finished Bully for the first time and I gotta say it was one of the best open world games Rockstar has made despite the PC jank. Everything about it was just so charming it's hard to believe conservatives lost their shit to this game just for the title of the game.
I recently got back into Elite: Dangerous. It's an mmorpg where you're first person flying a spaceship, it's pretty realistic too physics wise except for a top speed in space. But without it, there would be no dogfights. So instead of getting into risking my hard earned virtual money refreshing my skills I decided to risk someone else (significantly less) money by joining a strangers crew. We went bounty hunting for space pirates, the dude was very friendly and all went well. I would launch from a tiny ship stored on board of his larger ship and give him fire suppoty. It was great until some npc rammed me, and I started spinning, rapidly, along two axis at once. Oh did I mention I was playing in vr? Unpleasant was an understatement.
So I've now bought a gigantic passenger ship, painted it chromatic blue and called it the vengabus. I listen to audio books while piloting it. It's very relaxing. Definitely better than becoming increasingly dizzy from the faster ships in the game.
Sick idea! Elden Ring would be sick, have really wanted to try it on my Steam Deck
This year I graduated from my undergrad. No good job yet or anything but, it's feels like a new section of my life for now, hopefully my first full year out of school will be a good one :)
Either spiderman game would be pretty fun on deck so I pick the first one, it's not like I got a lack of games though lol. Just about to start playing most of the GTA games.
this, my last year of college, I've made several new relationships because of dark souls. Recently, because of this group, got a girlfriend, and I would love to gift her with the game!
Missed out on the elden ring hype last year and still haven't been able to pick it up, fingers crossed and good luck everyone!
recently I played bullet witch and enjoyed it quite a bit despite it's notorious reputation for its jankyness. something about it has a charm that the late 2000s really mastered aesthetically.
I'll enter for God of War, I watched a few YouTube videos of it with my son and it looked fun and a good story. Thanks for this idea, it's fun. Good luck to everyone.
Something that made me happy this year: my son tested into advanced math placement at school and I still can't get over how amazed I am with the poor genes I passed in to him. Couldn't be more proud as it was something he wanted and of his own choosing spent extra time practicing math. Don't know how I lucked out, but he's pretty impressive to me
I would personally be interested in Spider man remastered.
As for a game I played recently and loved, I've been playing Xenotilt and Demon's Tilt and they're both amazing pinball games. I loved Metroid Prime Pinball as a kid and these are the first pinball games that really capture that same appeal.
Wow thanks! Would love to get the UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves collection. My brother and I grew up playing Uncharted 1-3 on the PlayStation over the our summer breaks and those are some of my favorite memories. Coincidentally, this year I feel our bond has been growing again. Though it's been a tough year, moving back into the family home has meant I spend more time with him and we've been going back and playing the nostalgics, recently BO3 Zombies, and it's really felt great to have a friend and brother again. Would love to play more uncharted with him.
I don't want anything out of this for myself, as I currently have enough on my plate as it is. I'm just commenting to boost engagement. I love that you're doing this, though! Happy holidays, everyone! *<|:-)
