Privacy policies are only as good as your ability to legally enforce them. And without a name or address, you'll struggle to do that against a github account. Even a lawyers name would be a start.

The simple answer is self-host (or dont host it online at all) if you really care about keeping your data safe. Otherwise, use a provider with a published name and address, and if they leak your data, use the legal system to resolve it.

I dont know that that is true. With cloudflare tunnels, their server.x.y.z will resolve to a cloudlfare IP address, which then tunnels it to their server? The traffic has to hit the cloudflare server, it can't short circuit that connection? Am I missing something?
I would assume yes, it goes out to cloudflare and back in. You want to setup an internal DNS server on your network, and resolve your servers address to its local one. That way when your outside your network, you use the tunnel, and inside it goes direct.

None that im aware of. There are webscrapers, and I guess you could just webscrape and dump the results into a postgres db and use it to index. But I'm guessing you'll eventually want something more tuned/custom? But even if it existed, there is the discovery problem. How do you find the sites to scrape? Bing and google both let site operators submit urls, but that isn't gonna scale to self-hosting.
Self hosting search engines is very hard. The scraping, indexing and storage requirements are immense. You could definitely self-host a front end (with your QoL improvements), but the back end search engines (Bing/Google/etc) will be able to track you all the same.

Hi All. This might not be for everyone, and is very rough around the edges, but I have written a tool to more easily test how custom addressable RGB effects work.
Simply copy the code portion of the lamba into a text file, and then build and run, and it will output on your terminal how the effect will look.
It is very rough, you need a C compiler, and a RGB/TrueColor capable terminal.

I have been writing a screen clone in rust.

It all currently works fine, albeit quite simple, and I suspect not following best practices. Please talk shit about my code so I can fix that :D
For my next stage of development, I would like to use some combo of vt100 and ratatui to wrap the shell in a border, or add a menu bar at the top or bottom to make it clear when the user is inside a "screen". Does anyone have any thoughts on how to go about doing that? I am very unskilled at ratatui.
