To simplify my setup using Google TV, I installed a custom launcher and set that as the default one. This removed the horrible home screen and now I just see Jellyfin when the TV turns on. From there, it's a Netflix like experience. Also, the TV remote is able to control the volume of the AVR, so it's a single remote experience. I tried the button remapping route, but abandoned that. The custom launcher is the way to go.

A long time ago I used to use a PC with a remote and Kodi and it was nice, but you'll still need two remotes to get it all working.

I switched from Roku to Google TV and I'm much happier due to subtitles support being only srt Roku. With that said, the Roku client felt polished and had better audio support, but the Google TV one works ok for my setup.

I mean the cards were much lighter over what's made today.... So backs are ok.

It's not the credit card, it's the less useful prime card that I believe needs prime membership

I have prime membership for the 5% off prime card. It pays for membership easily as I shop there a lot. Also, they typically do a 6% discount if I select the slower shipping. Idk.

I just check the git page, it's now using .net 8. Which is great. Maybe I can turn off the rebooting then. I did this to protect my self from mono lol.

On Linux is Jellyfin updated to use .NEt or is it still on mono.

There is a chart on the jellyfin page about when transcoding happens. The server will video ranscode when you are attempting to play content the the client does not support or you are hitting the bandwidth cap or you enable subtitles for a client that doesn't support the subtitle's format. It will audio transcode when the audio format of the content is not supported by the client.

There are a few days to see if it's transcoding. You can check the logs or you can disable transcoding for the user account. When you attempt to play something the client will grow an error.

I have mine setup to only do audio transcoding. This is easy for any vou to do. For all my content I do my best to ensure morning requires video transcode.

With two bay NAS, I believe it depends on how you configure the file system. You should be able to upgrade to larger storage taking one drive out at a time.

I setup my NAS this year and just went with 4 bays and 18tb drives. I didn't want to think about my storage and I was committed to having a hands off solution that I should have to touch except to upgrade packages on.

If your in the US, check out whole foods, they have some local roasters in the coffee section. I found paper plane coffee this way which is in NJ.
