Saw it a few days/weeks ago (2024 Oct, so 2 months since this OP). It's an alright film.
Several I personally noticed though:
spoiler
-
For their first-time appearances as characters, since it's the very first film they were presented, right from the get-go, you'd know who would be the final survivors or who would have the plot armor from the very start, Android Andy and Rain.
-
The actors themselves, I don't know, from they're first appearances there, you know they're not the same experienced actors of the previous films. It showed, it felt. Hence, the fear and fright a viewer should feel were not the same too. Seemingly, the trailer was a little more scary, honestly. I think such casting resulted to less "scary" than the previous films.
-
More reliance on the Android again, although not as much as the previous Prometheus and Covenant. The babying was made apparent too. Like unwittingly yet somehow seemingly there's much more, like the way she looked at him at times. And, a fully-functioning whole Android, and not even that supposed "found from the trash" poke was believable. She has such an Android when likely no commoners have one in their lifetime, surely such Android could be utilized for income or something, even plain water buffaloes are utilized for field work, transportation, heavy burden, etc. for centuries in rural even "far from civilization" places. I mean something, somehow that Android could have been utilized, no matter the attempt of the film to portray it as not as very useful or frail, which was not really believable. Andy even had the out-of-the-blue robotic strength to hold open those heavy mechanical doors when no previous film androids were seemingly the same.
-
Final monster was not, um, not as overwhelming. No resemblance to the iconic Xenomorph aliens at all, hence reducing connection. It's somewhat like Edward Norton's Hulk who had no tiny semblance of his alter ego, hence the believability of the viewer to see him still as Norton's Banner but transformed to the Hulk was thoroughly reduced during his CGI Hulk scenes. Looking back, I think it was not the very suited decision to have it as the final design of the alien monster, since it somehow resulted to closer to a generic monster appearance.
-
Surprisingly, even though he was just the CGI/AI likeness of the late Ian Holm, Rook still, exhibited that he was the more experienced actor. Can't understand really. Rook was still scary. So kudos to them for capturing/recreating such.
-
So, not bad, just OK. But still, I can't rank it above the other last films no matter how divisive they were, they had their own charm and appeals.
Have you noticed? The "realistic" or "realism" AI results for man/woman have apparent big heads (mostly even huge) compared to their own bodies. It's like the camera is close to the face. Even the results in Google Search have such phenomena. The obvious ones are for Asian women. Why as such for perhaps even the different AI's, why the same pattern from them?
Try searching for such now, try something like: "realistic AI Asian woman", and you'll even see ones with actual HUGE heads, most especially the "realistic" ones. Different AI programs and yet the same huge head pattern from them?
Any actual AI users, could you please share your experience too? Thanks in advance for any enlightenment.
Resizing then padding a centered video, maintaining aspect ratio, to a final 720 x 1280, with the same top an bottom colors, say darkgray, is below, which I think I got from Stack Overflow or somewhere (it works).
scale=720:1280:flags=spline:force_original_aspect_ratio=decrease:eval=frame,pad=720:1280:-1:-1:eval=frame:color=darkgray
But I would like to have different colors for top and bottom paddings. See the example pic below, which I want. Thanks in advance.

Understood, thanks. 👍
External images could be linked and displayed using:
![](external url)
Then Lemmy images could be resized which I think also shrinks the file size; hence faster display time, save internet data, and save screen space; by adding &thumbnail=
:
![](https://lemmy. .../pictrs/image/... .webp?format=webp&thumbnail=320)
So, is it possible to do similar but for any external image? Or at least generate thumbnails of many external images? Thanks in advance.
Good work and godspeed, heroes.
What would you recommend?

Thanks👍, so Sentry then and Lewis Pullman. I didn't recognize him there. Nice, "Bob", same as in Top Gun Maverick.
Question, who's the character under Bucky's gun? So seven field members of Thunderbolts?
Can't wait for the film. Seems like they have incredible chemistry.
From this particular Reddit post:
I tested several from the list. So thank you to the kind poster (a Mod actually).
- Alright, I checked your screenshot, your results have no single AV1.
- Your
-S "codec"
seems to be not working as you intended anymore. Sometimes the ranking changes too through time, so you must update your command line. Happened to me too before. For example, use-S vcodec:av01
. Again, don't forget, your results have no single AV1, hence no AV1 could be downloaded.
So far works for me. For example Joshua vs Dubois highlight:
yt-dlp.exe -S vcodec:av01 -F https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZJCDbszAE4

As you can see, the bottom are 399, 398, 397, 396, etc., all AV1 formats. Last is 399 which is 1080p. The last on the list is the one would be downloaded, especially if you have FFmpeg.
Ah, alright. Try yt-dlp.exe -S vcodec:av01
. Note however, not all YouTube videos have AV1 counterparts, and then other sites use different code for AV1, so I'm not sure if the command would always work for other non-YT sites.
Just use yt-dlp.exe url
.
Also, there's a dedicated youtube-dl Community, with the Mods with the same names as in Reddit's counterpart, so it's likely them too: !youtubedl@lemm.ee
Hopefully there's true IMAX too, and not just cropped (which would cut out actual parts of the screen) to simulate its aspect ratio.
Agatha All Along's big twist has been spoiled by the Disney+ subtitles of all things

> Source: Gaming Bible: 2024.09.20 Marvel accidentally spoils major MCU twist early via subtitles > > > While it’s usually other people that spoil things for you, Marvel fans have been spoiled by the YouTube trailer for Agatha All Along, by the subtitles of all things. For Agatha All Along though you’ll want to switch them off though, as the real identity of the twist character “Teen” has already been revealed through them accidentally. If you don’t want to know who this mystery character is I’d advise you to not read any further, unless you don’t care about the spoiler. > > ::: spoiler spoiler⚠ > > Fans have noticed that if you go on the YouTube trailer for Agatha All Along and switch the subtitles to foreign the name “Teen” will be replaced with Billy, confirming this character is indeed Billy Maximoff. He’s all grown up now it seems and slowly becoming the powerful Marvel hero Wiccan, who’s one of the Young Avengers in the comics. > ::: > > ------- > > !
Easy, just show/claim she was in fact controlled or possessed by an evil entity, say like Chthon, not just plain corrupted. Just like Bucky was when he was still the Winter Soldier. Just like that Wanda variant in MoM whom Wanda possessed to defeat the Illuminati back there.
I'm excited too. Agatha All Along for series, then Thunderbolts for film. The last which really fulfilled it was Deadpool & Wolverine.
NATO should at least shoot down missiles and drones which enter their sovereign airspace. Save Ukrainian lives and structures. Would also be actual experience of shooting down such actual enemy hardware in their own airspace. No simulation, no controlled environment. Would also train their AI for real.

I prefer to rewind time with me along, be young again, that kind of time travel. Of course with my knowledge and memories of up to before my "time travel", be retained. I could only remember what I could any way. The future would surely not happen exactly as the same before. Live a new younger life, a seemingly fresh restart at an early point in my life.
Thanks for the quick reply. So maybe indeed urine was the culprit of the sow bug's demise after all. I thought they were robust enough for both feces and urine, as I have seen some internet pics of pill bugs feasting on I think dog poop, although those are big pill bugs and not the small sow bugs in mine, and of course those using isopods as clean up crews in tanks, hence I arrived to the wrong conclusion. Interestingly, the small pinhead-sized beetles are not affected.
Just when I thought I got endless supply of fertilizer for almost per day. I was even dreaming of having a new raised enclosure just for the urine to be buried regularly (along with scraps) and thinking to have the sow bugs to have a feast, hence to have ready-to-use soil for pots. Before the appearance of these sow bugs, the last I've seen them were decades ago.
Luckily I still have surviving numbers from the Papaya pot which I must take care to remultiply. Back quite a while, I remember whenever I scoop the soil from the raised bed, there were immediately numerous sow bugs but none today anymore. I'm glad back some months I scooped some and put in the papaya pot.
Also glad that both onion and garlic plants have no effect on them as I remember reading they have antibacterial or something properties.
Thanks again, my friend. 👍
Hello. Any of you who have robust experience for the compatibility of the three: garlic, onion, and human urine, to isopods in garden and pot soil?
Maybe for 2 years I've been burying scraps into my small raised garden of about 1m long x 0.25m wide x 0.3m tall, located just under our front living room windows, for the hope to lure earthworms, but the isopods and beetles manifested instead. Beetles are only the size of silver pin heads, while the isopods have tinge of red, and adult size is about the length of a mung bean seed, of course not as thick. They're really small and delicate.
After 2 years I got enticed to use human urine (our own) as fertilizer. I don't really dilute it, I just dig a hole then pour the liquid and wait for it to fully settle down then re-cover with the dug soil.
Lately I noticed the population of the isopods really went down after less than a year. In fact I don't see them anymore when I dig soil anywhere there. But I don't really know if the urine affected them as my dig sites are often the same 2 locations since there are already existing plants. I only started to really see them again after I transplanted a Papaya from its pot to a bigger pot yesterday, which delighted me of their surviving small numbers there.
Still I don't really know if the urine affected the bugs or if their population simply dwindled on its own. The urine surely would not spread across the entirety of my raised garden as those are 2 same locations, and so the bugs have way larger safe areas to go to.
My adult chili pepper plant in a separate big pot also died, and my suspect was the urine because I didn't dilute it much, but I'm not really sure too, because that chili plant had been producing fruits continuously for maybe 3 months straight, and I don't know if that chili pepper plant was in fact really a perennial because I got it from the wet market. So my 2 suspects are the urine and the true lifespan of the plant.
Then how about garlic and onion plants, are they compatible with the isopods? Right now I have on the table 2 garlic bulbs, 1 red onion, and 1 white onion with sprouts already so I placed it on water in a small cup.
Now after researching, I think my bugs are sow bugs because they don't form a ball.
I really want the isopods to prosper because I noticed the buried materials were gone way, way faster.
Thanks in advance for any enlightenment.

Say whole planets, even whole timelines were pruned and sent to the MCU Void.
All possible variants of the Aliens / Xenomorps and Predators, including bosses like Queens, Newborn (Ripley's), Predalien, Ultimate/Upgrade Pred (giant), etc.
- R1 - Only Alien franchise is pruned.
- R2 - Only Predator franchise is pruned.
- R3 - Both are pruned simultaneously.
Would any of the species prosper, or get eliminated? Could any representative of the species escape the Void?
Your personal FB Profile has some Friends and Followers. Then that same personal Profile of yours is a member of a certain Group Chat (not Group), but the Friends and Followers are not members of that Group Chat.
So if you use the Share function of FB and share a post, a reel, a pic (from the FB platform itself) to that Group Chat, would your Friends and Followers know that in fact you shared something to that Group Chat, or even just a general something, like say "John Doe has shared this \<reel\> to a Group Chat". Would such appear on their feed, notification, or somewhere else in FB?
I'm thinking of creating a separate Page, and then use that Page to share stuff (from the FB platform itself) to a Group Chat, to maintain my privacy from my Friends and Followers regarding that Group Chat. But I don't know if a Page is even allowed to join a Group Chat. Again "Group Chat" and not "Group", which are not the same. If this is allowed, please let me know too.
Thanks in advance.
Hello. When I Post by putting the video's URL, say from YouTube, the leftside square thumbnail preview is always the generic one provided by Lemmy World, the one with the the link arrow in the middle. So I simply put the URL of the thumbnail instead (eg. maxresdefault, sddefault, etc.) It's been like such since I joined.
Then just lately, I found out existing Posts in other YouTube-related Communities, the leftside square preview thumbnails do in fact show, and with the link arrow on the top-right corner instead. And I think the Body automatically inherits the existing Title and Description from the YouTube video. Both youtu.be
and www.youtube.com
video links work in those Communities.
Examples of YouTube-related Communities with showing Thumbnails are:
- c/youtubehaiku
- c/youtube
Here is my latest Post as example (which I have never edited yet), and I posted it via a raw Chromium profile, so no add-ons at all if they would interfere just in case:

When Nux crashed on the War Rig, he and Max survived intact, no injuries at all. Although Nux was unconscious for quite a time. Note that Nux was driving only a car back then, and even Max was tied as his blood bag outside, and yet they they were both perfectly fine, unbelievably especially Max who I remember got thrown. Nobody should have survived that, even leave unscathed, but they both did.
-
Then when Nux purposefully crashed the War Rig to block the path, even after the Doof Wagon eventually rammed it, both big trucks were seemingly intact after the collision. No explosion, no final Nux body nor even the sequence of his body's demise unlike Rictus'.
-
What do you guys think? Possible that Nux survived? The War Rig's cabin was in fact fully intact too, only the wheels came off IIRC. And it was Nicholas Hoult too after all.
-
Would Nux be worthy of one or a few extra adventures before his cancer finally end him?
----
- Then IIRC, Nux and Capable (the redhead of "Immortan Joe's Wives") seemed to liked each other back then, showing more character development than any other War Boy. So if any WB who would probably break the tradition / programming, it could be Nux. When he uttered his final "Witness me", it could very well not for Immortan Joe (nor even for Valhalla too) anymore but for the survival of Capable and the party. So any tertiary character to have a comic, short film, short story, etc., it could be him, don't you think?
