An on-ship firing range where you can test out the various weapons, improve your skills and kill time in the lobby would be a nice simple addition, I think.
And I absolutely support the idea of being able to do text chat in more situations. Should be able to say nice things during loading screens or talk tactics. When you can and cannot chat seems inconsistent and unclear.
Also, toggle to talk mic option. I'm surprised the developers added the rare Push To Mute option but not a Toggle To Talk.
Seriously. Anything at ALL that indicated any aspect of one's game efforts were helping — the ever-changing (and generally arbitrary) stats on the map screen do not count. 🤦🏼♂️
I had a daydream about there being a companion app on my phone where I could see my friends were playing and I could send them little assists like dropping ammo or a little autonomous drone or a heath booster.
It was displayed like I was a super earth citizen sending my support donations to the front line.
IIRC, Tom Clancy's The Division gameplay trailer had a moment where one of the guys in the crew had to leave, but he was able to check up on his crew and call in a supplies drop for them via his real world smartphone. It seemed like an interesting idea, to incorporate a smartphone/tablet as another way to 'play the game.' I think there might have also been the ability to hack into CCTV/security cameras and give callouts/info to your crew about what was inside a building, on the street up ahead, or the city block. They ended up cutting from the game, a few months after the gameplay trailer came out.
It's an intriguing idea to find ways to incorporate other screened devices into the mix of gameplay, but I think it wouldn't be utilized that often. What would be the strongest reason to allow others to help out in this fashion? I can see how this would appeal to couples or friends, where one is really into video games and the other isn't. They could feel like they are working together to accomplish the mission/objective.
As for HellDivers 2, I can't quite imagine where and how having a companion app for the game would work out and be utilized.
a 5 to 8 player mod would be nice. Our squads barely hold together without disconnecting way too much so it might be a big ask until things are more stable.
