  • HH5 is so blah.

I'm calling him Henry Hooter the 5th. Or Harriet Hooter the 5th.

  • Info from the people running the camera site:

Dad, as usual, will be roosting in his favorite tree/spot close to the nest from dawn until approx dusk when he'll start to begin his nights hunting all over again. There will be NO hunting throughout the mornings/days.

Mom WILL start to eventually feed her 1ST new owlet, "HH5" sometime today on and off with the "prey pantry" in the nest. The owlet won't be 24 hours old until approx 10:00 pm tonight. We most likely won't be able to see owlet, HH5, being fed as s/he'll be way too small to see their beak coming out from Mom's feather skirt, but we'll know that Mom is feeding them when she starts to "SHRED" the prey and drag it "back and forth" from side to side, as owlet HH5 grabs miniscule bites off it. Mom will be brooding HH5 at same time as feeding her/him. Mom will NOT take any morning/day breaks as usual, protecting her nest from the many day predators.

  • just caught this fluffer with mum:

    and from a different angle:

    • It seems it would be hard to breathe under an owl.

      Also smelly.

But owls can't smell very well at least.

      • It would be warm, though. oh, a moment later she went and turned around. from what i can tell, she literally sat on the fluffy lump like a typical parent....

I'm keeping the cam up PiP while I'm supposed to be working on taxes.
