Aren't we the rain in game? When we fall from space in our drop pods; and aren't we a risk to everything in our path?
I always thought that was the rhyme and reasoning of the title.

I’ve heard good things about Risk of Rain Returns. Hopefully they can turn the IP into another hit like BattleBorn

Gearbox has already worked on risk of rain, they were probably the best choice to hand it over to.

Bait and switch!
To be fair, they only say there's a risk of rain, not a guarantee. It appears that the risk was just pretty low.
