Trump's Truth Social page is a riot of witness intimidation

I watched it live and was pretty underwhelmed the whole time. The coverage really didn't capture the gravity of the violence imo. It just seemed like people lazily walking past barricates. I didn't even realize that shit was going down until well into the day when there were reports of injuries.
- I watched it online through Xitter and it was fucking wild!
- It definitely depended on the feed, but there was some violent window smashing and screaming/yelling/trying to break down doors.
  The news crews really weren't set up for "action movie" style coverage with all the key points of interest. That's part of why it didn't "look" that bad. Like, if you look at most gas station robberies, they don't look that bad either ... because the angles aren't dramatic, they don't make you "feel" the moment.
I watched it on the internet. I fucking saw those clowns with my own eyes. They were livestreaming it themselves, even!
Trump's called those seditionists "hostages" in a speech the other day.
EDIT: Also, January 6th was the day I quit my online gaming group. I just didn't feel like having that sort of magical fantasy life when this shit was happening for a while. I regret it now, but the group broke up anyway (not because of me quitting).
I was shocked that it happened, but I knew it wasn't going to amount to anything. I'm actually surprised that only one of those fuckers got shot. What sickens me more is I'm probably distantly related to her (her last name is my mom's maiden name).

...except it's not speculation at all. There's a long history of Trump saying shit like 'somebody oughta do something about [x specific person, for y reasons]' and then randos in his audience volunteer to do 'something' like mail pipe bombs to them, or make threats to them and/or their families.

Does this surprise anyone? I mean, Trump has already been shown to cause a spike in hate crimes (https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3102652). Any minority or non-white male voting for Trump is either 1) insane or 2) thinks they are immune to hate crimes (which is also insane).

I almost cut off my relationship with my mother in 2020 because of her politics and some stupid shit she quoted me from Fox News that was exposed with a five second web search. I really feel your pain.
A friend gave me the wisdom that "it's harder to open a door than to shut one." That saved us. I implemented a "no politics" rule with my mom and we've been good ever since. She still (accidentally, I think) makes off-hand remarks that are silly, but we stick to the rule and we're much better off. I can't save her from her shitty views and it's best that I not try.

Not among the cult. If you listen to his followers, having the gag order lifted was the only way to defend himself publicly and that order was San affront to his first amendment rights and placing it in him should be prosecuted as election interference.
