I started watching season 2 but somehow it didn't have the same magic. It's great as a stand-alone with just season 1, IMO. Maybe I just didn't get far enough into season 2 to get re-hooked but season 1 had me from the first episode.
Season 2 had heavy studio meddling according to the show's creator, it kinda bombed and season 3 cleaned up the mess but the whole thing got cancelled.
Season 2 is like this whole weird side quest. Season 3 brings it back to the same stuff season 1 was about and it becomes good again. I'd recommend you try jumping ahead and see if you can give it another chance.
