I like experimental electronic sound. There have been moments where I'm driving, hear a new beat, enjoy it....then realize I need to take my car to the mechanic.

Sure, AI can create music that I can't tell is AI generated. But there is a difference between "enjoyable" and "good". My concerns about AI have very little to do with the quality of content it can create. Even if eventually it can make "good" music it still sucks.

I feel like Spotify went downhill when they fired all the playlist makers, it's so ass for finding new music because the algo tries to keep you in a bubble.
- Spotify is playing AI music and they're also inserting AI generated songs into playlists without informing the user. I was getting AI generated music in my blues and jazz playlists, and I didn't even know until I reverse searched the artist.
- That's true, idk anything about Spotify's history but I joined hoping it would help me find cool music and it really didn't. I know my friend uses it for that and it works for him, I think though the music I'm starting with is too specific and narrow or smth (even though there's several different genres)
  I wish there was just some quiz thing where it plays 300 little clips and you rate how good they sound, and then it could iteratively refine the quiz and recommendations as you go on

this is why i dont listen to music anymore......just alone with my dark, horrible, self loathing thoughts, and existential dread. id write a song about it except i have no innate musical talent whatsoever.

if only i had someone i could talk to, that would put my feelings into song, instantly, with virtually little to no cost to me.....

I only discover bands through KEXP, Tiny Desk, local shows and whoever is opening for my favorite artists, so I should be good. All the "related" and "recommendeds" of the world are dead to me. I'm keeping it in the family.

The whole point of ~~generative AI~~ plagiarism laundering machines is to make it harder to tell you're consuming a soulless regurgitation of legitimate talent.

tbf, a lot of pop and generic stuff is incredibly soulless and it was made by people. One silver lining is that hopefully the artistic part will be more embraced in music because the driving force for a lot of it is money and not art. Not defending AI in any way though, fuck that bullshit to hell.

- I hate that AI is controlled by a few huge corporations and that it consumes ungodly amounts of resources. Otherwise I'd be completely fine with it. At least 90% of anything is shit anyway and everything humans create is built on what came before, so I think AI just mimics what we've been doing since forever. But as it is controlled by just a few assholes who burn the planet down even faster I am against it.

In my opinion that says more about Jazz than about LLMs trying to mimic real music.

It doesn't say anything about LLMs, they just do lyrics, and they're definitively shit, and you can tell right away.
Image generation models actually aren't terrible at generating melodies, so for genres like Jazz and EDM they make surprisingly acceptable music.
