nobody remembers that trans men exist :( (apart from terfs, sometimes)
âTrans men are just men, but all women are property of men, therefore trans women are sneaky, deceitful predators trying to trick both innocent men and women.â
This is all just an extension of our fucked up patriarchal culture. Itâs not that trans men are forgotten, itâs that their outward masculinity makes them irrelevant. They are no longer potential mates for the cishet males and therefore not âdangerous.â
Trans women, however, are a âproblemâ for those same reasons. Their femininity means they could be targeted as a potential mate for a cishet male, so to the patriarchal privileged they are by nature of existing âdeceptive, duplicitous queers.â At the same time, any remaining masculinity in appearance or even the idea that a person could have a penis makes them a threat to other women, because other women are the property of other men. Hence the âtrans women are just rapist men using drag to trap women in bathroomsâ fallacy that the right loves so much.
I apologize for the window into that psychology. A shower may be warranted.
The problem is exactly this:
So according to conservatives:
Beautiful happy women â
Certified Pedophile â
checks out tbh
Did you know Dora Richter and not Lili Elbe actually was the first to have gender-affirming bottom surgery though
In 1931, Elbe returned for her fourth surgery, to transplant a uterus and construct a vaginal canal. This made her one of the earliest transgender women to undergo a vaginoplasty surgery, a few weeks after Erwin Gohrbandt performed the experimental procedure on Dora Richter.

by a matter of a few weeks, and by the same surgeon
Elbe had an orchiectomy performed by Erwin Gohrbandt in 1930, it was the first of these surgeries she had.
I think I have a solution to the male loneliness epidemic
is it just my impression or are there fewer trans men than trans fems? at least of what i personally happen to experience
which i find sad because tomboys/trans men(?) are hella hot. i'm not sure about trans men though because i rarely ever meet any.
despite historical over-reporting of trans women compared to trans men, by the numbers there are roughly the same number of trans men as trans women. Trans women are just given more attention by the media and society, and can be more represented in online and IRL trans groups for various reasons.
https://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/publications/trans-adults-united-states/
Of the 2.1 million adults who identify as transgender, 32.7% (698,500) are transgender women, 34.2% (730,500) are transgender men, and 33.1% (707,100) are transgender nonbinary adults.

Studies have consistently reported a greater prevalence of MTF than FTM.12 A recent meta-review found a ratio of âŒ2:1.1 We had previously noted an increase over the past two decades in the percentage of FTM initiating sex hormone therapy compared with MTF.4 We have now reached the point wherein we are seeing at least as many FTM initiating sex hormone therapy as MTF.
trans girls in my experience are very vocal online, along with being constantly targeted in the news. so by virtue youll see more of us.
if you look up the numbers its about an even split though
yeah makes sense
One factor in this might be that it's traditionally more socially acceptable for a woman to adopt masculine habits than vice versa. There isn't as much social pressure to change how you identify if you're a tomboy.
Not really, actually from experience trans men tend to come out sooner on average so in youth groups there's usually more trans men. Online and in the discourse trans women are more present, but IRL in trans/queer spaces it's not the case. Edit: With age it should be around 50/50 in total
Harriet potter (sorry for the slop)
It's wild how they used to casually print people's addresses in the newspaper. What a different time.
Also, such a positive article! The newspaper celebrates Christine's transformation, even though it was published in 1952.
Kind of similar to the whole 'racism is learned behavior' thing, like small children are generally not racist unless the parents are really proactive about making them be racist.
I really think decades of transphobic propaganda in media sullied people to the idea of transition. Like, I think people found it weird or even gross in the past, but it took the social efforts of bigots actually thinking through the consequences to the conservative gender ideology for it to become as hated as it is now. I think a lot of modern gender relations are more constructed for our current time than we know.
I like the bit about how her family and family friends agreed this was a good move when they heard about it. The article makes it sound like everyone was shocked but overall accepting. It's such an optimistic tone, like it's saying "look what science can do now! Isn't it wonderful?" And it is.
