Meta to stop its AI chatbots from talking to teens about suicide

The firm says it will add more guardrails "as an extra precaution" and temporarily limit chatbots teens can use.

How about they just stop with AI chatbots all together.
- Too many people rely on them. You would be stranding random people now.

Oh good, I'm sure that will make things a lot better... I honestly feel most of the world would be better off without AI...
- Yeah, I didn't think we're going to solve "AI has no inherent ethics" by catching all the corner cases. That's basically how the legal system evolved and that's with a majority of people trying to be nice.
- AI invented bad parenting, we need to destroy AI to solve all problems
I find it wild this was even in the conversation or debatable... Who released this and didn't put controls regarding the suicide topic and immediately direct whoever, regardless of age to something not artificial. A Hotline, family etc... anything but engage with that topic.
Is meta going to face any consequences? Probably not. Seems unjust.
