Surely the Mario Bros. must have a Canadian cousin.
The exploitation class hates this one simple trick!
i really hate to carry water for a landlord, but "someone should kill this guy" really is the laziest form of commentary
The solution to the housing crisis isn't difficult or unknown and our govts (CA also having one) can afford to try fixes until something works.
The issue is the stranglehold that the upper class holds us in. We'll keep getting trickle down "fixes" until the sun burns out.
I'm sure a solution, to divest the wealthy of their power in a way that is both fair and nonviolent exists, but to pretend that is a realistic pathway is... Naïve.
The unhoused die every day, but we don't treat that as the fault of the class that controls the housing?
Lots of things in human society only occur because some people include "and we're willing to fight you to the death over this", and that can't be a bluff.
Bad things happen because bad people hasten to that end. When good people are willing to fight to the death for good things, they're playing catch up.
But it's true. If people like this asshole started getting clapped left and right they might start rethinking their position on things. Or at least keep a lower profile. They have the entire structure of society rigged in their favor and we are rapidly approaching the point where violence will be the only means for normal people to change anything to their favor (assuming we're not already there) clutching pearls every time someone mentions it won't change that. Thousands of people are already dying because of assholes like him, it just doesn't get as much attention because dying from homelessness or lack of healthcare isn't as flashy as being gunned down in the street.
I would simply have a limitless ZIRP line of credit and buy up as many properties as I can that are in foreclosure. I could even coordinate with private banks in the process of foreclosure to get sweetheart deals during the eviction process.
Viola! Instant housing surplus (for me). Why don't other people use this One Neat Trick?
A landlord owning 30,000 properties is wild.
If he divides his time equally between each property and works 8 hour days 5 days per week like a normal drone:
Yeah he probably has a team employed to deal with all this and doesn't actually do anything himself, but what value to any of them bring to society.
If all of his property were seized and given to homeless people, it would solve 13% of all Canadian homelessness overnight. Just find 7 more people like him and no-one in Canada would be homeless.
... what about the people who live in his properties now? Wont they be homeless if you give it to people? I'm not defending the guy, I was actually looking for the video to mock the dumbass for being a dumbass, but this statement doesn't make any sort of sense.
edit
Looks like it wouldn't effect Canadian housing at all since most of the housing they own is in the sunbelt
