It's not a disability, but I'm short. I've never felt embarrassed to ask someone tall walking by if they can grab something off the top shelf at a grocery store (for example).
It should absolutely be the same way with any accomodations needed for any disability.

As a tall person, seriously, its no problem when people ask.
Though for some reason apparently it's a massive inconvenience ro speak louder according to hearing people

Society really does make it hell to ask for those accomodations, and subconsciously makes you feel ashamed for it. It's exhausting
How many times do I need to repeat something before people get it, and actually believe my words?
The longer I go on the more I understand just how unkind society tends to be towards disabled people
Yep and employers seem to think accommodations only have to be given when they feel like it. We just get brushed under the carpet in day to day life
