Owlcat Games has announced The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, a Mass Effect-inspired narrative-driven action role-playing game set in the universe of the sci-fi TV series of the same name.
I personally think that this is a rare case where both the books and the TV series are equally good. The Expanse is both my favorite TV series and my favorite book series. What did you like better about the books?
They're the same IP, but they aren't the same continuity. And I wouldn't be surprised if they have the license for the show specifically and not the books.
Look at it this way, if a new Witcher game was being announced, how big of a difference would it make for it to be a spinoff of the existing games, a new adaptation of the books, or a an adaptation of the Netflix show?
Cautiously excited for this, especially after the series cancellation. The books are excellent, but I could definitely see a game set in the universe working.
Holy shit. Owlcat is really stepping up to the plate with this one. After Larian Studios they are probably the 2nd best cRPG maker today, but they've never done an Action-RPG before.
Having played 40k:Rogue Trader I know they can handle the material, I am strangely confident about that, it's the gameplay part I worry about.
