I used to love the eery atmosphere and immersiveness of the first installment, but I remember missing these aspects from DL 2 at launch day (pirated it), but I wanna buy it at the summer sale perhaps now.
If anyone played DL 2 recently, did the game get some more immersive improvements or perhaps are there mods that can make it have a more atmospheric feeling?
We loved the first, but the second adds the stupid infection thing, and was in the "ok, playable" pile at the start, but all the glitches and bugs made us stop. Between day/night not working for non-hosts, buildings with huge map holes in them, and very poorly scripted quests we dropped it. The final straw was when we were doing side stuff, ignoring the main mission, and passed over a building that was part of a later stage in the main mission, causing us to softlock, then on restart being at the later step in the main mission. Just trash programming.
If you really want to play it, pirate it. Don't give money for it.
DL2 really loses the immersion and atmosphere that made the first soar.
The parkour and melee combat is improved from the first, but I know some people will be put off by the lack of guns though for me that was never an issue.
The new mechanic with the infection thing is annoying as hell.
It did get an update that added the original darkness of the first game but with the differences in gameplay it doesn't really do much to improve the game.
I just remembered getting through a few days before I just realized I wasn't enjoying the game.
I did not like the faction thing but overall story is ok, first one was better though. Overall first game is a masterpiece for me but second is decent as well.
I enjoyed the first one a lot but the second one I couldn't get into.
The removal of guns had me bored after a while and it just wasnt the same. Apparently they have introduced guns now but I'm in no rush to check it out.
The game feels better and definitely has more content.
The story is still shit, but combat and ragdoll physics got a lot better fortunately. They fixed the annoying crafting system.
The game is still super easy except at night where the difficulty different is pretty high, but overall it's still pretty much a joke compared to DL1.
It finally doesn't have the Denuvo shit DRM anymore so that's nice. Side quests are still a bit shit, though they reworked some main story ones slightly. Feel free to ask if there are specific points you want to talk about
Oh, and we got guns, but I haven't unlocked them yet
Annoying crafting system? What was the original crafting system like?
Sorry, I meant to say annoying repair system. Weapons often break and could only be repaired a fixed amount of time. Now this is gone, and they can be repaired at multiple NPCs for gold and components.
So it seems that playing the game on hard should be the default, right?
I don’t remember what I set but yea, it’s definitely too easy. Might be my fault though. The problem is that setting high difficulty removes some cool UI elements like enemy HP and attack indicators which I like
Yeah, for me it was worth it. I think that for most people it didn't have the "new" factor that the originals had (who'd thunk it). But overall still a good game, well worth the play for me.
