TechCrunch: Reddit sues Anthropic for allegedly not paying for training data

The enemy of my enemy is not necesarily my friend. However, when two of my enemies start killing each other, I can't help but to cheer for both of them, hoping for one to kill the other.

“We will not tolerate profit-seeking entities like Anthropic commercially exploiting Reddit content for billions of dollars without any return for redditors or respect for their privacy,” said Ben Lee, Reddit’s chief legal officer, in a statement to TechCrunch.

I thought all data was free real estate for AI model training? Will be interesting to see how this goes.

I have been pretty vocal about how strengthening copyright laws would only help website like reddit, record companies and publishing houses.

They sold "their" data for 60 million to google. None of us got a dime. This dream where artist and contributers somehow get a part of the profits is pure pipe.

Reddit isn't fighting for us, they are fighting over who gets to screw us.
