White House calls Amazon ‘hostile’ for reportedly planning to list tariff costs

It sounds the trump expects every company to eat the tariffs. I do not see that happening, and if the big corporations do, it will drive all smaller business out of business if they cannot afford to absorb those costs.
There isn't an issue on earth that he doesn't see as transactional.
"I make money for you, you cover my ass" is his one and only worldview. Whether or not anyone else explicitly agrees to that deal is irrelevant. He simply can't even imagine a world where that isn't the default that everyone has.
Yeah because he thinks they're all secretly friends and they're just going to do that to make him look good. Not realizing that once you get to the level of being like a multinational corporation head who has way more money than he'll ever be able to spend in his lifetime you don't have friends anymore You have business propositions. And no CEOs are not going to sit there and eat the extra cost of the tariffs instead they're going to show the customer how much the extra tariff is hurting the customer so that the customer won't be upset with the CEO but instead the president.
didn't amazon already backpedal on this? or did they flip flop again?
They're claiming they didn't plan to do it on the main Amazon site, but they WERE going to on the Amazon haul website, which is the Amazon knock off version of temu.
And it kinda made sense on the haul website since those products almost exclusively come from China.
Trump is a populist, and populism works by claiming that someone else that they are fighting is the enemy of the public and the source of any problems in society.
Since the Republicans currently have a trifecta, control both houses of Congress and the Presidency, unless he's going to attack the GOP, has to be someone outside of Congress and the Presidency. Can be a judge or a private company or something else.
I'm actually okay with Trump and friends declaring war on Amazon. As long as one of them loses, society is a tiny bit better off.
