Everytime I try this it's disgusting. Tastes nothing like actual spaghetti. Just tastes like a plate full of cabbage with spaghetti sauce on it.
That said, I did find that spaghetti squash jap chae is pretty good. Doesn't have the right texture as actual jap chae but the sauce carries it, and it works better.
No they aren't rotten. It just tastes like vegetables covered in sauce, like cabbage does. Cabbage also tastes slightly sweet. It doesn't have the same texture or taste as real pasta, unless you're someone has never had pasta in your life and have nothing to compare it to.
Yeah people take the name literally and it doesnβt turn out well. I find using it to replace noddies in a heavy noodles casserole actually works, cause itβs baked and soaks in the flavor for a long time and you can make them extra saucy to make up for it too. Thereβs good recipes for it, but as a literal substitute for spaghetti noodles in sauce plopped on top spaghetti? Thatβs not a good recipe
Fuck yea. Easier to make this "from scratch" than actual pasta, too, and tastes almost the same. Personally, I like this better because the texture of the "noodles" has a slight crunch to it while still being "al dente."
Besides low-carb diets, it's obviously a great sub for gluten-free folks as well.
