Missouri Republican seeks exceptions to near-total abortion ban, including for rape and incest cases

A Missouri Republican on Wednesday proposed constitutional amendments that would allow exceptions to the state’s near-total abortion ban in cases of rape, incest and fatal abnormalities.

Suburban St. Louis resident Jamie Corley, 36, proposed the constitutional amendments to allow those exceptions up until viability, which typically is around 24 weeks. The exception for rape would only apply if the assault is reported to a crisis hotline.

Another proposal Corley filed would allow abortions for any reason up to 12 weeks into pregnancy.

All of her proposals would shield those seeking abortions and health care providers from criminal prosecution and civil penalties.

  As a resident of misery, we do. But gerrymandering plus shitty candidates means that the Republicans are basically a guaranteed win.
  
  Apathy, they believe nothing good will come of wasting the time to vote.
There's no such thing as exceptions in these states! They never create a process to receive those exceptions, so when raped you'll spend the next 9 months hoping you Republicans senator calls you back, the police move forward with your case, and since it'll take longer than 9 months to convict your rapist you are screwed.
- This is something most don't understand. These exceptions aren't exceptions. They're attention diverting placations that have no material effect. "See, we're not so bad! We allow for these exceptions!"
So, let me get this straight: The GOP wants to birth incest babies and rape victims to carry their attacker's child?
- Considering they'd love to go back to forcing women to marry their rapists, yes.
- You forgot the part where they also want women to carry dead babies inside them until they rot and kill the women.
- But didn't you hear? They will do their best to eliminate rape, pinky promise.
- Maybe they're scared of demographic trends, and this is how they increase the population of white babies.
- Christianity wants that the GOP wants power, they are working together.
