The Trump administration set midnight on April 9 as the deadline for raising tariffs against China by 50%, part of the fallout from Trump’s “Liberation Day”
I can’t honestly see how the orange russian muppet thinks China will back down. They make almost everything that every single big box store imports and hundreds of millions of Americans buy daily, weekly, monthly.
Trump is fucking over both sides here and instead of doing anything, he’s golfing.
Why not assume at this point that breaking the entire system is the purpose? Winning a trade war would benefit Trump's ego, but the people pulling the strings want it all burned down. Just because the media keeps playing this as traditional economics and politics doesn't mean it remotely is.
Honestly are we even sure there is anyone pulling the strings? Like I'm pretty sure it's more akin to the fucked up mess that was Nazi high command than anything else, where everyone is pursuing their own interests because they don't directly overlap (with the exception of Musk who fits roughly into Himmlers role in this dynamic) but are still repeatedly fucking each other over via collateral. All the while Trump is just doing whatever the fuck since he is the source of their power and lets them do whatever so long as he is allowed to do whatever.
His line of thinking is that other than US no one can absorb Chinese production. Which means either China have to budge or they have to go to deep recession or listen to orange babboon's demands.
The fact is China have stockpiled for this situation and there is a very high chance that they will move towards Taiwan and shift the economy to wartime. I dont think US can win a war against China but orange babbooon is so confident on US ability to win a war against China in Chinese waters all alone without NATO/ India/Russia etc and along with Australia and UK.
It really is absurd watching our president have the Marty-McFly style reaction to being called a chicken with the full faith and credit of the American financial system.
