If there is one thing I'd hoped the world learned from us in the last 9 years or so, don't bend a fucking knee to conservatives regardless of where they are. Don't excuse, try to explain away or "Sanewash" shit they do.
Don't publize them, call out that idiocy was said, show why it's idiotic, and drop it. Don't give them time to dominate the news cycle.
God damnit it's frustrating seeing others go through the shit you just tried to stop, it's like watching the cars continue to slam into a pile up on a frozen foggy highway.
I was happy with my Ontario Carbon Rebate cheques. The conservatives really had their way in the media, re-dubbing it "carbon tax" when it was actually a very good program with money back from. I hate how sports reporters have more tenacity than those covering politics.
Get in their faces and never fucking move, Canada. Keep fascists marginalized and weird at any cost.

Calling alt-right authoritarian regressives/reactionaries "conservatives" bothers me. It's like "Damn those democracies and republics, like North Korea", and "Nazis were nationalists and socialists - it's in the name".
Conservatism is being wary of change and sticking to what works. Like not fucking up the climate.
Conservative parties have been idologically opposed to the rights, freedoms, and prosperity of the regular person for centuries. Word meanings are contextual, and in the context of governing blocs, it's never meant "wary of change and sticking to what works". It has always meant "fuck you, I've got mine".
That's not what Conservatism is. The ideology is and always has been about opposing equality and enlightenment values. The only difference between conservatives and the alt-right is that they're better at optics and lying.
It would suck right now to be a conservative with so much of world politics now being between centre left and radical right, with no simple conservative position left.
Unfortunately, before J.T., we had Stephen Harper. He was a conservative, Tory/Tories in Canada and other commonwealth countries.
Harper opened up some loopholes, and now a bunch of our news sources are owned by American VCs with close ties to the GOP....yaaaaay!

A reminder that CTV is owned by Bell, one of the mega media organizations in Canada.
One day after Skamski’s tweet, a CTV Your Morning producer contacted Gilmore and notified her that her next planned fact-checking segment was being bumped due to a scheduling conflict with a Canadian premier.
A week later, on March 31, CTV Your Morning Executive Producer Jennifer MacLean contacted Gilmore and told her a decision had been made to “call down the segment” altogether.
In other words CTV’s handlers weighed in on the situation.
Thanks for this. I recognize Rachel Gilmore from a post last year, but I had forgotten about it. I think her style is a little to, uh, young(?) for me, but I hope that means she'll grab the attention of the younger generations.

Worse than spineless. This is encouragement for trolls to keep threatening journalists they don't like with rape and murder.
Yeah it really is unfortunate they pulled her segment. Rachel is a friend of mine and the level of abuse she receives from the trolls and far right is shocking. They will literally track her down in the street to harass her. I have so much respect for her bravery to continue to push the truth to the surface.
For what it's worth, at least the producer owned up to it and didn't try to pass the buck, even though she probably should have.
It's like he's running a "tell me you're Trump without telling me you're Trump" contest. Like, he isn't saying it openly but each time his actions speak the quiet part out loud.
I'd laugh if it wasn't a serious matter. And if it wasn't the pot calling the kettle black about the liberals and their side of the media.

Just another example of traditional media avoiding facts when it gets to offensive for the Conservatives.

Clicking the link got me no closer to finding out what she's supposed to have done to anger the idiots. I had to go to some random crazy-right substack to find out: "misleading reporting that tied an unrelated arson attempt to Freedom Convoy protests in 2022."
If you want to see the garbage she has to deal with first hand you can go to her posts on Tiktok and Instagram. You'll see someone threatening to rape and kill her within a few posts.
