Often not, actually. There are some relatively local and craft-y brands, but a lot of the time it's imports or local industrial brewers like Beck's trying to capitalize on the hype.
Granted, if I lived 500km to the southeast, I'd probably complain that every craft beer is bavarian weissbier or helles - those are local, craft (bavaria has a ton of small breweries) and at least not quite as offensive to my tastebuds as pale ale, but still fairly boring.
That's like totally rad. Also I want to try a Black IPA again, the one time I did it was with an IPA bro, so I had to listen to him say it was "bad" because it was not a hazy.
The really bad ones are for sure. My roommate knows I like and carry a variety of nice craft beer and he asks me if "I have an IPA" everytime stead of a beer. Then one time he came home and went into my room drunk while I was playing on the PC and asked me if I had "any IPA's instead of those AWFUL STOUTS?".
Also I have another friend that loves Definitive brewing but hates Allagash because he really only cares for IPA's. He told me when he visits again that we can go to Allagash but he won't get anything. The dudes had like 3 beers from them once.
