Vegan Theory Club Weekly Mega thread: 2025-02-6 - 2025-02-?13?
Welcome to the Vegan Theory Club Weekly Megathread!
Questions of the week (Feel free to answer one, both, neither, or posit your own!):
Which genres of music do you most enjoy listening to?
What was the last concert you went to?
Feel free to talk about anything, whether itโs vegan-related or not. This is a chill space for connecting, sharing ideas, and supporting each other; however, please keep in mind: vegans only, and we abide by the Anarchist Code of Conduct.
I'm really into progressive rock, neo-psychedelia, new wave, and britpop. I generally like lots of subgenres of rock and switch up things a bit from time to time. Sometimes I like to listen to blues, power metal, and classical when I'm in the mood for it.
The last concert I went to was to see Liam Gallagher in December 2019. It ended halfway through Supersonic and everyone started booing when he just stopped talking and left lol. He was going to cop a large fine if he made any noise past 11pm, but there was no communication about this. Before Liam got on stage there was this Scottish dude, Gerry Cinnamon, who plays the guitar like I've never seen anyone before and I swear he was going to break it mid song lmao. (example of his music: https://youtu.be/S6n7ULbRK20https://youtu.be/QKzM0DBxNoo)
I listen to pretty much anything except country and pop. Favorite is alternative/hardcore. Don't listen to much these days though and when i do i find myself turning to my collection instead of anything new.
Can't tell you the last concert since it's been so long. I'm pretty noise sensitive and prefer listening to stuff when/where i have control of the volume ๐คฃ
The last concert I went to was Movements. My husband is a fan, so we went. I had a nice time.
I don't know if I have a favorite genre. I think I can find music I like in most genres so long as I'm in the right mood tbh. I recently went to a training where this was the icebreaker and I did the most stereotypical neurodivergent 1000 yard stare and then I think answered industrial. I like music that gives me good brain chemicals.
I don't spend that much time listening to music these days, I tend not to put it on as background noise. Like if I'm going to listen it's usually while walking or something.
That said lately it's romantic classical, smooth jazz, math rock, and electronica mostly. The last concert was so long ago lmao, it was like some megadeth staticx lacunacoil thing when I was like 16 haha. Good times but! Oh wait! That's a lie, I saw Nils Frahm like 10 years ago. Never heard somebody play a piano with toilet brushes so nicely!
Getting a bit over the anti vegan jerk on lemmy. It's somehow worse than reddit which is baffling.
The internet is a bit of a misery machine. The coolest shit in the world is on here, it's so easy to learn new skills and stuff. But everywhere there will be at least one idiot just vomiting hatred into the void.
I love a lot of different types of music, but most of the time Iโm going back to chill house/electronica and alternative R&B. Things like Rufus du sol, Fred again.., Khalid, others..
Other than that my top ones are:
cello-forward classical
electro swing (caravan palace is fun)
phonk for workouts or getting pumped up
melodic synth/electro pop
heavy rock on occasion (I once refloored my house with my wife and Metallica, NIN, sound garden were my motivation)
Probably some others Iโve missed but thatโs the gist.
My last concert was one with St. Paul and the Broken Bones, was introduced to them by my sister in law, they have some fun funk vibes.
