Yep, people should deffo flick water off more often. I watched a TEDx talk about how to completely dry your hands with a single shitty paper towel, and one of the key points the dude made was to flick as much water off as possible before touching a towel. I think he said to flick down into the sink 12-15 times, but I might be wrong. I don't do everything the guy said, but the flicking part is great.
Those air dryers are unhygienic in nature, will make germs go all over the room, and may be worse then if you didn’t wash them at all.
While your unwashed hands will carry many more germs there is an argument that these are part of your own micro ecosystem and useful by your immune system. The other germs in the room are not.
This is the reasons they where all blocked off during covid, its weird we went back to using them.
it's definitely best to skip the air dryers, but i dont think this is a good argument for not washing your hands, especially depending on what exactly you got up to in the bathroom. i think it's best to just wash your hands (for 20 seconds with soap and water) and then dry them on your shirt or something.
also this is slightly unrelated, but the "germs flying everywhere" thing is also why it's best to always close the toilet lid before flushing whenever possible. especially if you have some tooth brushes lying around.
There is no argument for having poop particles on the hands. That's the point of washing them, so one doesn't share as much of one's poop with other people.
I tent my fingers upside-down over the sink with them splayed a little. Surface tension pulls most of the water off pretty quickly. Then I towel if one is available. Otherwise air-dry for the win.
